My experience with roguelikes pretty much goes like that anyway. Ever play Omega? That game is so goddamn brutal.

Case in point.

Maybe this could be an RPG with a brutal rank system where monsters can obliterate you the more you kill monsters and level up without getting a Game Over. :o

Sorry to bump this thread (although it's pretty awesome and I missed it the first time), but does anyone know anything about this or is it just idle speculation? Someone should try e-mailing Cave or something.

A Rank Hell Puzzle game :x .
FUCK YEAH, that would be even better than Carpet Stories! BTW a Yagawa/Norimoto RPG teamup would be the greatest concentration of pure evil genius the world has ever seen. I'm in awe just thinking about it.

They have RPGs with rank and scaling, but since RPG players are total pansies who like to overlevel and mash brainlessly, they go over even worse than they do among shmup players.

Also you have something like the best avatar I have seen in my entire life.

Thats why i tend to prefer zelda type action rpg over most turn based rpgs. Ive yet to try out those character shooters which mix abit of zelda type in, i bet they're great :)

from what i know,he's the main programmer for many great shmups from Raizing-----including the legendary game with rank system such as BattleGaregga (which is the game that i still can't get a hold of it until these days :( ) ,after that, he join cave as an programmer for games like Mushi Mushi Pork and Ibara.

Played Garegga during practice week 5 in last year's shmup competition and loved it. (Despite the fact that I was horrible.) Was deeply disappointed (but not surprised) that Progear won the vote. I've also played Ibara and found it to be all sorts of awesome. It's sad that Yagawa's specific style of shooters may now be extinct.

Jonny, don't test me ^_~ Take a good look at the game. 19th Century steampunk badassery. Garegga system and sequel. Bond and Dyne are man-beasts. YOU SPEND HALF THE TIME MILKING HOT BITCHES. I think you can take it from there.

While I'd love to see him make some more games, his style of shooting game is not in short supply. There's plenty of Yagawa games out there to satisfy any Raizing fan for a long time.

Haha, next you're going to argue that Playboy is not manly because there also are women in underpants.

big difference between 'real' naked girls and animated ones......

manly men are not interested in cartoon nudity......

you could maybe call ibara 'boy-ly'.....

In which case I don't expect manly men to be interested in cartoon guns and animated aeroplanes ignoring laws of physics, either. Or in videogames whatsoever.

That's putting aside the fact that Playboy girls are about as real as any drawn ones.

He did alternatives to the churning out of bullet curtains that Cave does every time.
