? about Salamander PSP
I have yet to hook my PSP up to my TV, but I was wondering if while playing the Salamander pack on a television, if it looks "blown up", or if it looks the same as it does on the handheld.
Also, what kind of difficulty options are there for Xexex?

Re: ? about Salamander PSP
i shouldnt post here, since i dont have a PSP slim, but i really think that portable games should be played on the go, on its tiny (huge, in the PSPs case) screen... they look sharper there... and i love that effect.

The games look fine on the TV screen but make sure you get the component cable to plug it in as the standard AV cable sucks.
I haven't plugged mine in to the TV for a while but the picture does not fill the screen entirely so i think that the resolution stays the same so it's bigger but not stretched.
I'll give it a go at some point this week and feedback.
XEXEX has eight difficulty settings and has settings to change the frame drop and the V sync (whatever they are)
It's also a port of the Japanese version of the arcade which although I'm no afficianado, I believe is regarded as better that the english version.

It definitely is the better version. Yeah, but if you can check it out sometime and leave a post here, that'd be great.

Looks like Hibachi is blessed with the ability to not be too anal about 2D graphics.
In my eyes it looks horrible. And yes it's still scaled even if the picture doesn't take the whole screen.
But remember: different TV sets have different scaling hardware in them, so it might be my Samsung doing a horrible job.

Were you using a component cable (For 480p) or a standard AV cable?ZOM wrote:Looks like Hibachi is blessed with the ability to not be too anal about 2D graphics.![]()

component, didn't know there were composite AV cables for the PSP since the output is progressive anyway...Hibachi wrote:Were you using a component cable (For 480p) or a standard AV cable?ZOM wrote:Looks like Hibachi is blessed with the ability to not be too anal about 2D graphics.![]()

There are composite cables for the PSP, but you can't use them to play games, you need a component cable and a progressive scan-enabled TV for that.ZOM wrote:component, didn't know there were composite AV cables for the PSP since the output is progressive anyway...
Re: ? about Salamander PSP
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the large borders present when playing PSP games through the TV.

I dunno, I figured those were pretty common (and disappointing) knowledge by now, heh heh.
Re: ? about Salamander PSP
So I had a look last night and the picture wasn't bad at all on my TV.
It lacks some clarity but then so does my Wii, and PS2 when put through component video and had similar detail to these consoles.
The main problem is actually with the cable lenth which means you have to sit very close to the screen which means it was uncomfortable as I had to sit on the floor.
It's not a bad option to have but to be honest, I thought the PSP screen was better as it was clearer.

Yes, same here - it doesn't look much worse than some PS2 games(also hooked via component), but it's nowhere near a "perfect" picture. Also I think the borders aren't necessarily a bad thing if you take into account that the picture would be scaled even more without them.
