So how do you boost the timer back up to prevent it from running out so quickly? That's where I'm getting confused.

Killing large enemies makes them drop orbs (or some kind of item that looks like that) that add 7 or 8 seconds to your timer. Other than that... just keep moving.

Yip, especially the boss mission stages is where you can win back a lot of lost time if you go for the speed kill.

This is essentially the pseudo-spiritual successor to Raycrisis, except something that looks like a Radiant Silvergun or one of those giant things right before the final boss of Ikaurga comes out and wtfpwns you instead of the Con-Human if you run out of time.

And it's harder to keep your "Encroachment" down because you have to keep killing powerful enemies instead destroying everything on sight. At least the final boss doesn't repel your bomb attack.

Er wait, I haven't approached the final boss yet. I love the game a lot though, even though it doesn't completely fill the entire screen in tate, just like with every other vertical shmup that's appeared on the Xbox 360 so far. I don't mind a little bit of stretching.

True last boss?

Post by VxD »

According to the achievements list, there is a true last boss to this game.
However, although I unlocked the true last boss achievement using continues, I still cannot unlock the simple last boss achievement.

Seems like I accidentally trigger the true last boss on each play.
What are its requirements?

Also, there was a mention of a downloadable character. Seems she is still not unlocked, is she?

DLC character is not out yet.

If you want to fight the normal boss, you have to beat a few levels and then be running low on time I believe. Then the option to fight the boss appears on the stage select screen.

Thanks adversity1! :)

Now that I feel more comfortable with the later stages, I have begun playing this game using the default settings again.
And it's pretty addictive, a nice break from DeathSmiles...

Considering that the Famitsu page they link to doesn't even have up to the top 30, I'm curious where they got those figures.

I know it's been around a while but I've never trusted that site. I mean... vg_chartz_? Chartz? Sounds more like some 12-year-old's Geocities page rather than a real source of sales info. :?

From watching a video it reminds me a lot of Prikura Daisakusen minus the isometric view. I kinda like how G-Rev is experimenting and always doing something different with their games. I'll probably buy this once I own a 360. Still though, as a huge Under Defeat fan, I long for a successor that plays so classic and refined.

So how difficult is the game on default settings? What game in terms of difficulty could it be compared to?

Playing! This game is pretty fun. :D

Although I've forgotten my XBL password... AGAIN. The game is pretty easy though, expect to 1cc it in a couple of days. Having to move your character instead of the screen moving by itself feels weird. I need to give this more time before I come to a conclusion on whether I like it or not. :|

I think this game is just like any other game. Its as easy or hard as you want it to be. I can breeze through raiden fighter aces, but when i start playing for the mechanics of the game it becomes a challenge. Trying to get as many stars as possible in this game makes it become a challenge.

Playing late last night, and having drank a few too many beers, I passed out for a few seconds while playing the last level. I came to and hadn't even lost a life. So far this game is just fucking boring. Speed running, going for gems, it just hasn't hooked me yet. Sadder perhaps, I really love Walk-em-ups in general with Elemental Master ranking high on my top 16-bit shmups list. I still have some gas left in me for this game, but it's dwindling fast.

I take it by the way this thread died off that people feel about the same way.

Does anyone else hate the controls? I hate that you can't aim diagonally down left or right. I've tried tweaking the controls, but even with that it still feels a little sticky. Spoiled I guess by Cannon Spike and the like. I haven't tried the Dual Stick option and I don't think I will. If I can't play a shmup with a joystick then something is broken.

For all the abuse it’s gotten I think the score system in Mamoru means well, if it had worked then watching the clock and chaining between milking sections might have been interesting. And, while it could have fail-safe mechanics and more peaks and troughs on the timer, it's broken through an easy-to-miss oversight in one section of a stage. It’s not like DFK 1.0 which was broken because chaining the final stage hit a counter-stop; suggesting no infinite combo debug mode, no swanky scoring spreadsheet, or rogue scoring formulae modifications near release.

I guess there was no 1.5 because it had bombed already when this was found?

I would imagine that there are other parts of other stages where similar scoring is possible. Don't you think so? That would be a good reason for Gulti and Grev not to update the thing. But jeez, they should've fixed it if they could have for the 360 IMO.

Btw, those Famitsu numbers posted earlier for the game were right:

Just picked this game up today at the local import shop. Pretty decent so far, but I've only played it about 5 times. Feels a bit clunky with the control at times, still not sure what the scoring system is really about. Not as bad as I was expecting based on some of the comments though. Oh, and definitely Naomi graphics.

I would imagine so. I actually can't get it to happen on the 360 version, but I'm not sure how he triggers the bigger popcorn ships.

Twin-stick is interesting but ruins the whole cursing of enemies.

I guess it is weird that you can't shoot back, but i don't know many circumstances where you really have to worry about that. I think the game is great. It's fun, its different, you don't have to milk to enjoy it blah blah blah... but as we all know to each their own.

Mamoru kun wa nowareteshimashita LE & phone card

As you can see, It look the same as ones you order from play-asia .Thus,80 pond might not be reasonable price if you are actually not fanatic of Grev or takeyama mitsuki.

By cooperative effort from Grev ang Gulti,Mamoru- kun might not be the most favourable from my opinion. In the term of its depth ,we couuld finish and unlock every stuff in this game within 3 hour .Apparently,It 's not even comparable with the previous outstanding title, under defeat or senko no ronde rev x by regarding the hidden detail or addicted atmosphere after trying it once

However, focusing on the sales history and increasing price after It's sold out, Grev never encounter the success they deserve ,only less than 10,000 copies. As a result of the limited number of first print edition ,It' surely believe that It will have been at least 150$ by the end of this year.

I did not know that Mamoru came with a card as a pre-order bonus. I got my LE from Play-Asia, but I must have tossed away the card together with the package.
