Wow, a new Genesis RPG

Post by alpha5099 »

Insert Credit reports that the team behind Super Fighter is working to port some Taiwanese unofficial Mega Drive RPG, with Older Games publishing.

Has anyone ever played the original, Xin Qi Gai Wang Zi? What sort of RPG is it? The site says they fixed some of the glitches and bugs found in the original; anyone know what kind of bugs they had to fix?

I'm pretty interested right now. If I can find some better information on the game, I'll probably get it once Older Games publishes it.

I've never played the game you're talking about, but I've never played a good unofficial Genesis game. I can't imagine an unofficial RPG is going to be any good.

I've heard of the game but I never tried it out because of the language barrier. Looking forward to giving it a shot when it comes out in english.

Yeah, it does sound a little suspect, but it must have some redeeming value if people are bothering to translate and release it 9 years later.

effin sweet! that's right up my alley! i don't know why but i always seem to spend a lot more time with 16-bit rpgs than i do with most later ones. they seems to be more streamlined and slightly shorter, and more often keep me interested until the end. as long as the translation is strong and the difficulty curve is consistent (i don't mind bastard hard as long as it is all bastard hard in a slope lol) i'm well up for this.

would love a megadrive game to keep me interested for a while.

That certainly looks half decent from the screen shots, but it ain't shining force.......

Must keep an eye on this one.

So, these guys are going to release a megadrive cartridge in 2005?

This looks pretty neat. I'm a bit burnt-out on RPGs in general, but it'll be nice to see a new cartridge-based game come out for an old system, especially in a genre that was relatively underrepresented on the Genny. I can't claim much interest in the (for the most part) dregs that have been posthumously released for the Sega CD. Hopefully the game is decent.

Slowdown and sprite animations I would assume from what I've played.
