Home console emulators on arcade monitors?

Post by dpful »

I've been using some emulators on my standard rez arcade cab. Had anyone picked favorite emulators? I'm particularly looking for ones that will display well in CGA. My NES one does, but the others don't seem to go that low.

I'm having some lick with the NES and SNES, but what is the "magic resolution" I'm supposed to set it at? It seems like all those systems should display great at their original resolutions -what are they?

It is somethings around 320x240 @15 khz. I say something because as far as I know there are different resolutions for different games and for each console, but they are all around 240p.

One possible solution could be an ArcadeVGA, though I don't know if it would work for that specific use.

Yeah, I'm using a computer -> Avga -> CGA monitor. It seems like the emulators themselves have a hard time sampling the image properly. I've had the most luck with 256x264 (others are stretched a bit or ripple)-- I think it might have to do with the computer running in VGA, downsampled for CGA, and then square pixels or something (don't know what I'm talking about). Mame looks great, however.
