Very much looking forward to play this, too. End of June in North America? When will KOFXII be released here?

Seems like a horrible waste of money to buy a wide screen cab when your TV will do that. Just build a supergun and hook up to your HD TV. Saves like a million dollars.

oh im sorry, your so right. Maybe we should have a word with caves about loli shmp vol 6. or maybe you would want a stop motion fighter like Primal rage?
And let's not forget that Atari Games developed Primal Rage II prototype arcade game with the same stop-motion process but it was never released to the general public. I've seen it up and running a few times in the past at previous California Extreme shows. ^_~

Weird question:

Using a HRAP3... (8 buttons), knowing BB uses 4 buttons, would you map your buttons as the top 4, the bottom 4, or first from the botton left (thumb) and the first three from the upper row? Somehow I started using the latter, but it doesn't feel 100% right...

Yes, that's always been the ASW standard (3 on top, 1 on bottom). In GG, the bottom one was P but BB lets you choose by default.

I don't know about the pad, but if anyone's interested I can confirm that the US 360 version of this game does work on a Japanese 360.

So uh, besides being a 2D fighter... is this game any good? I'm considering buying it but I want it to be somewhat playable as the list of good emulated 2D fighters is rather large.

Probably depends on whether you like Arc fighters. I haven't played it but it is apparently very, very similar to Guilty Gear. I suppose not everyone likes that style but it's getting very favorable reviews and seems to be pretty popular.

I don't think I'd dare playing this on a stock PS3/X360 pad though.

As others have said it's somewhat similar to Guilty Gear, but probably a ways easier for newer players to get into - for one thing, the cast is smaller (12 fighters) and there are only 4 attack buttons (light, medium, heavy, "drive"). The "drive" button instantly activates a unique special ability for each character, not to mention that you can utilize an "EO"-esque mechanic to map special attacks to the right analog stick, so newbies can still have some fun with it. Veterans still have a lot to dig into, though (loads of cancels and whatnot), and the game obviously looks very nice, so if you've got any inclination towards fighters it's probably a pretty good pickup. If you're thinking about it you might want to act quickly, as the first print "LE" includes a soundtrack as well as a DVD showing certain techniques and the like to get you started.

I just played this last night at my friend's place on his ps3 with two sanwa modded madcatz sticks. I'm not a big 2-D fighter fan (I will play but I never get too deep) but I found it pretty fun. As people said before it has a GG feel and I guess I felt more at home with BB than something like SF4 because I used to play some GGXX with buds a few years back.

I got to play this at a friends and it's pretty good. BlazBlue is nice cause it's HD, has well done backgrounds and it's fresh.

I don't really dig the characters or designs, but as others have said its a grab-bag of designs/themes. Although BattleFantasia was not a great fighter, at least the characters seemed like they originated form the same world.

Also, compared to the GG franchise there is not nearly as much animation. We popped in GGXX(i think) and you can tell the attacks had many more frames in them. GG had quite a few characters that had morphing attacks always fun to watch for this reason.

The music seemed good however, and its a two disc set in the CE.

If you look on the backside of the USA region Blazblue LE set, it does mention of two different HD display formats that you can choose to play it in: either 720p or 1080i at best. I was hoping for a full fledged 1080p BB game but that can be included in the next BB sequel. ^_~

After d/l'ing the cool Blazblue promotional FMV trailer off of the Japanese PS3 PSN site, that particular trailer plays in 1080p alrighty with some cool anime cut scenes to drool over. ^_~

I got a chance to play around with this last Saturday. Was pretty interesting, even though I had no clue what I was doing, it was still pretty fun. Seems easy to do combos and recover from just about anything, plus air dashing, etc.

I'd like to play around with it more.

Er what? BF was a really good fighter that just got massively overlooked. Also pretty sure BB in general has roughly the same animation count as GG. In some cases (ABA) a lot better.

The original arcade version didn't run in 1080 at all anyway so you aren't losing that much really.

If you play on a 72" 1080p display you can tell the character sprites were not designed for it. You can see stair step jaggies when sitting 12-15 feet back. However when your moving around you can't see this easily(if at all). Of course the 3D backgrounds fairs well and is crystal clear.

Not like i care, I still rock a 50in 720p set, works for me.

Any other fighters on the PS3 apart from Battle Fantasia that are JP only and worth importing?
