PS3 Exclusive "Infamous" - Anyone playing?

Post by neorichieb1971 »

Take Spiderman gameplay, put some electric bolts in the hands of the main protagonist, recharge your energy with any electrical item on the street and put the fear of God into the reapers on the street.

Infamous is a "sci fi GTA" with free roaming gameplay. You'll spend countless hours clearing the main 3 islands. Firstly by powering up the islands, then taking down the armies one by one. With a great mix of climbing, platforming, shooting and puzzle solving, Sony has done a good job with infamous. The main missions are quite long, but never tiresome (although sometimes a little repetitive but it doesn't bother you that much)..

The difficulty of the game is quite easy for the main part, with a few missions requiring a little too much precision causing repetitive starts. However, with free roaming gameplay, you are essentially able to combat each mission as you see fit. Even if you have a few mates round, they won't get bored of watching you play this. Its that good.

Technically the game is an accomplishment with a few niggles. Its smooth, graphically impressive and it controls quite honourably. You'll be shooting, grinding, thunder bombing in no time.

The gameplay is divided by comic book scenes similar to Sin City. The way the layers of art work gives the impression of 3D, it helps the story line along, which isn't its strongest point tbh.

I'm a Sony fanboy at the moment, which is not good because there are not many PS3 games to shout about lately. However, infamous delivers a very very rewarding game. In some ways I felt something with this game that I hadn't felt since the first MGS or Resident evil. That urge to keep playing into the night.

Well recommended. 9/10.

"Prototype is better, lulz. harharhar!!!!"

Now, Infamous people, you may discuss your game in peace. The flameboy warz are out of the way.

I will have to have a look at this prototype game. Its multisystem so I see absolutely no point in calling it a flame war debate.

Any game that is good is great, no matter what the system it is on. I see no reason why its not great to play 2 great games instead of one.

There's no rhyme or reason when it comes to fanboys. It gets as ridiculous as people saying every game in a console they hate sucks, and when it comes to major consoles, that's just flat out crazy. I figured someone was bound to bring up the Protototype vs Infamous thing, so might as well get through with it early (tho to be honest ppl over here are either more sensible or less fanboys.)

People here are less interested altogether. Oh well! There is always the death of Michael Jackson to talk about :P

I want this game, but I don't have a PS3, namely because 1: I haven't sold my Wii yet, and 2: there aren't enough PS3 games. I've been bitten by buying a system that there weren't games coming out on it [read: Gamecube] before, so...
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I bought this and played through the first island pretty quickly. Good times, I normally don't like sandbox games, but this one actually was fun for a while.

Then I reached the second area and it felt way too much like the first. And the side quests weren't really as interesting anymore.

So I imagine for sandbox gamers this will be 100% gold, for those not so inclined to the genre it's still fun but might not get a full playthrough.

I played through on hard and am at the last guy. I played him for about 15-20 minutes, dying over and over and over again. I finally took away about 25% of his life, and died again. I haven't gone back to try again (got Red Faction : Guerrilla instead).

It was a very fun game though. Thoroughly entertaining.
