A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?

SHMUPS

I am open to suggestions for games/dates/prizes. I also would like to stick with Console/MAME versions of any SHMUP as it's just easier than a cabinet.

Or you could pick up a compact supergun setup with S-Video and/or Component Video outputs...fire up some cool arcade shmup PCB titles and you're good to go. Much better than Mame/Mame32 emulation as you're dealing with real arcade hardware & software to begin with -- play it how it was originally meant to be. ^_~

Hello, kinda late to the party, but I go to school at UW. I've been pretty busy this quarter, but I like play shmups on and off in between bouts of SF4. If anyone held a get together I'd be interested in going.

Hey all,

I'm one of the owners at Ground Kontrol http://www.groundkontrol.com -- we could probably host something after the holidays are out of the way if there was interest.

We have a few shmups in the arcade (and I'm working on a new cabinet to add some more) and then we have a projection screen and a few new LCD's getting installed that we could use for console based stuff.

Anyway, post if that'd be of interest (and maybe mention if you're under 21 to get a feel for the age mix-- we're 21 and under until 5PM, but then our bar kicks in and we're 21+ only). Even if it's not enough people to really play a tourney we could at least have stuff setup and people could just stop by and play for fun...

(Didn't mean to try to jack your thread, TF222-- just thought we could be a good spot to meet...)

Ground Kontrol was actually my first place to visit after moving here to Oregon, lol. A sweet collection of arcade games IMO. Though to be honest, I usually force-feed quarters into Street Fighter III or Raiden II (with some Dig Dug at the end of the night) and hardly ever get a chance to check out the other cabs. Def' a place to check out.

Hey!!! TOTALLY!!! School will be back in session, I'ma computer science MAJ. Yeah...progressive calc is as fun as SHMUPS that cover 95 % of the screen with bullets. I hate those type. Ikaruga was okay, but it's gotten outrageous latley.

How far: I will drive max 3 hours ish. So I guess seattle is as far north as I will go.
Can you Host: Unfortunately no.
Bring: shitty 20" crt tv with only av, ntsc-u ps2 with swap magic, snes, usa dreamcast, various controllers, computer monitor, hrap2, SKATEBOARDS, beer, money
Days/Times?: Saturdays or Sundays all day (usually)

How far: Depends on how big the event is, but probably no more than 4 hours
Can you host: I'd rather not, sorry
Bring: A JTagged 360, arcade sticks, monitor
Days/Times: Weekends are best

Days/Times?: Probably a weekend is optimal, but whenever.

I have a pretty extensive collection of JAMMA boards, so I could always bring that kind of stuff and/or use machines that are already in GK...

The U-district Pink Gorilla is a cool place. If any of you all haven't been there yet you should definitely check it out; there's some good shmups there. Right now they have Espgaluda and Batrider set up in candy cabs.

Also, if anybody is going to PAX you should post here. I can't seriously be the only forum member that's going.

You mean you haven't bought your PAX pass yet? Then you really should hurry up. Three-day passes have already sold out, and supposedly they're running low on single-day passes as well.
