Japanese 360 games that are not region locked

Post by Mad Mage »

Any Japanese-only 360 games worth picking up that are not region locked? I know all the good shmups seem to be locked, but are they ALL?

They're all locked.
all of note yes, but some simultaneous releases are region free - not that it makes a difference.

Quite why the X360 can't have the same regioning (i.e. NONE) as the PS3 is beyond me. Given the reason is usually to protect publishers, i can't see why the self same publishers would have one expectation on the X360 and another on the PS3. :/

i guess it was an experiment on PS3 as its not the norm in consoles thats for sure. I guess we wont see what they thought of it until PS4 comes out or if the MS decide to bring it in when it comes to the next console.

It's up to the companies, and for some reason *all* NTSC-J exclusive releases that I've seen have been region locked, where only a very few US releases haven't been region-free. The end result is annoying, most certainly. But my launch NTSC-J 360 I got from eBay is still running, so I don't mind overmuch.
