Good god...why does Shia la, le, whatever, have a career? Surely he's not still getting jobs by sucking off Spielberg...

Worf fan? :D

Also, the only person (that I saw) hating this thread on the Retro Roundtable was somebody who didn't even watch it. I mean, damn, find something else to do.

Good to know I can miss out on 2:20 of explosions and randomness though.

I'm not above pointing out that (despite not having seen his movies) people must love his "smarmy assnapkin" looks and poor role modeling.

I loved the movie, although I could have done without the Terminator 3 chick! At any rate, people are now claiming that this movie is racist due to the ice cream truck Autobots. What do you all think? Normally I would laugh at such a suggestion, but even when I was watching the movie, I couldn't help but think "Amos and Andy".

And I agree with the above. After watching the movie, I feel tired and abused. I don't have energy to say anything more for now.

Ok, saw the movie, I am ok in paying a few dollars for some nice special effects. I found bizarre that they avoid to mention at all Harvard, it was pretty obvious which "College" the main character was supposed to study in.

I confess that of late I am almost beginning to enjoy dumb movies, there is something about "artistic works" and "messages" that makes me cringe. Maybe I am getting "brainwashed" by my job?

Cool retro homage to the SMB fireball plant...sure are packing some serious firepower these days, Jockel. ^_~

Did you ever notice the two huge hanging weighted balls on the ginormous Devastator when it is at the top of the pyramid sucking in all those stone blocks...is a subliminal message for "big balls". Is another one of those "insider jokes" from the fine CGI wizards at ILM. Blink & you just might miss it. ^_~

I dont think its possible to miss that. You see it briefly as it starts to climb the pyramid and I thought to myself "lol, bawls...", but later when he makes the call he says he right under its testies, with the 2 hanging demo balls in the shot. Atleast in the euro version

I really didn't care too much for the first one. Absolutely loved the show when I was a kid (who didn't?) but when I heard they were gonna make a live-action film um.. 30 years later I didn't really have huge expectations. My problems with Bay's first films were a. too many goofy parts and b. the designs of the bots were so sludgey and confusing, most of the time I couldn't tell WHAT I was looking at onscreen, who was who, etc. Anyway after all of that I wasn't terribly excited for part 2.

Well my girlfriend was excited to go, so it was a good enough excuse. Anyway they did a very good job of fixing the big issues I had with the first film. Yeah, plenty of goofy parts still, but they seemed to tone it down enough in #2 that I didn't get so annoyed. The twin cars were annoying but no way in hell were they even in the same league as jar jar, also I didn't think they were anywhere near as racist as people are saying. For crying out loud. They're robots. Maybe the gold tooth was a little much but whatever..

As for the designs of the bots, much easier to tell what the hell was going on this time around, they set that stuff up MUCH better and there were a lot of nice-looking shots in this film. toooo mannnny revolving camera shots. Agh my head!

Yeah, the film was longer than it should have been. yeah the story has lots of holes. who gives a crap? Do any of you remember watching this cartoon back in 1985? Honestly, the story here would mesh so well with how those played out, near the ed of the movie when sam "dies" and talks to the old primes - the matrix of leadership being used to open the sun devouring machine - so much of that stuff, as I was watching it I really felt like it was matching the plots of those old shows punch-for-punch.

I think the big hitch here is that for one, so many of us watch this when we are in our mid-thirties or whatever and it just seems ridiculous - to our 13 year old selves it would have made perfect sense. Secondly, it's placed in a live-action world as opposed to being rendered against a cartoon background, so we have much different expectations of how things should play out, contextually.

As for how they portrayed characters like Jetfire, "joe pesci" wheelie and etc - hey again I say, the cartoon was just like that too, lots of funky characters with odd personalities - you remember seaspray right!

Yeah, the movie has problems, but really I think they have done a good job - it could have been much worse. I got a kick out of it!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen earned a whopping $200.1 million dollars at the box office -- will it catch up to the new revamped Star Trek movie and surpass it? ^_~

Its a sad day for movies when Transformers 2 starts to break all kinds of records.

1) There will be a billion sequels.
2) No point making the movie any good because Paramount would make millions even if its shite
3) One of the sequels might make a recent Lucas film actually look good.
4) It means next summer any studio releasing a movie will avoid going up against Transformers 3 meaning a void of good quality movies to watch.
5) Talented actors are not getting a look in.

This is all kinds of wrong imo. There is always asian cinema.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Yeah, I agree with those sentiments. I really loved that "cyclops" dog Decepticon with the guns on it's back-that was a sweet design! :D Although I with they had included more Autobots from the old series, like the Dinobots. Whatever, all of the action was great in the movie, and I would definitely see it again. I don't know whether or not there will be more movies.

Director Michael Bay said he wanted the 2nd Transformers live-action sequel to have a script that really doesn't leave the movie patrons thinking if there'll be a 3rd sequel or not. We'll find out if that is true or not when the summer of 2011 rolls around. ^_~

That particular Decepticon by the name of Ravage is a cybernetic panther (like how Ravage was portrayed in the original Transformers cartoon series circa 1985 courtesy of Marvel and Sunbow Productions) in this film sequel. I'd say that it could be a strong contender to have the Dinobots featured in the third Transformers live-action film since they were nowhere to be found in the first or second film to begin with. ^_~

^^^ PCE FX, NO! You realize that Bay or some other Hollywood hack may read that post and forge a script out of it?
