Dangerous Seed & Co.

Heyo fellow shmuppers, I'm currently looking for STGs with a "dark" bio-mechanic Insect setting like in Dangerous Seed. Really learned to love that game - it's atmosphere sucked me right in and it seems to be one of the very few games in this genre where I don't mind the lifebar. So far I have:

Dangerous Seed (Have it on MD but I prefer to play the arcade version on MAME)
Cyber Core (PCE)
Bio Hazard Battle (MD)
Darwin 4081 (MD) -not really insect-themed but it's general feel makes it into this list-
Exed Exes/Savage Bees (NES)

That's it, have I missed something? Any recommendations will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

PS: leave the bug princess in the closet, she's a bit too cheerful to make it into the list. (-_^)

Surely not the best shmup - but it has insects.

Insector X - Sega Genesis or Arcade ( the arcade version has a
cute graphic style and a higher difficulty level - part of the
taito collections for the PS2 ).

Mushisashima ( hope I wrote it wright ) - my favourite game from CAVE -
many seem to prefer the arcade other the PS2-version.


Galaga 88 - get captured from bees and shoot the bugs.

if you just want dark and dont care about insects check out psyche metal-the bleeding.....its pretty wild.....its a doujin made by dark hell company....its free

Heavy Unit I have to check again, last time I played this was a decade ago IIRC, or more heh.
psyche metal-the bleeding isn't quite what I was looking for but it looks pretty fucked up... which I like. I think I have to play this a little more to see if the "monotony" goes away a bit. Also, I suck at it
Insector X....I have taito collection - not really what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway.
Night Raid is ace, dunno why I didn't list it; I think I'm looking more for non-polygonal stuff.

Looks like CIT nailed the atmosphere I'm looking for with X Multiply(totally forgot about it) & Armed Formation F.
Conclusion: I want a vertical version of X Multiply

[Breakdown]

N2O on Playstation. It's a tube shooter, so not a true shmup, but it's got lots of insects and a great soundtrack (courtesy of The Crystal Method). Great game, I highly recommend it.

actually now that i think about it, homura has a ton of weird bug, spider, crab, and frog/tadpole enemies everywhere. their death animations are nice and bloody.

there is a kickas shmup for the amiga where you play a fly, cant remember its name tho but i do recall it was fairly dark. (its not apidya).

it has a feature where you can flip around and play the stage backwards if anyone knows what im talking about?

Homura is awesome. I guess I'm looking for older stuff(8&16bit) but I'm sure as hell taking a closer look on this game in the next few days.

Philosoma's endgame is interesting but the rest is just a mess IMO.

Oh the much beloved Apidya - I've heard so much about this game and even watched a few youtube's, looks like I finally have to check it out. And I was thinking Fenrir would be the one recommending this
