He was my role model in the 90's and I don't care what anyone else thinks.

Also, Farrah Fawcett died. She was the one celebrity I've pretty much had an obsession over since the 90's. ;_;

He's not dead. Yet.

Ok, now he's dead.

Now I'm all weirded out because a half hour ago when I saw the news of him getting rushed to the hospital, I was hoping he doesn't end up like Farrah and Mr. McMahon :(

Regardless of his weirder obsessions, he was one of the greatest entertainers of all time. He's grabbing his crotch up in heaven right now.

endless virgins and tiger eyes

Quite surprised about this; he was double my age and his big debut was at my age (half his life). Not in a rush to follow that pattern.

Health problems: Vitiligo (well, more of an appearance thing) and possibly some rare lung disease (Alpha 1-antitryspsin deficiency). Both are rare enough that I have to wonder, but whatever. Like Zuhzuhzombie!! says, got shat on by everybody.

Funny thing because I was about to check out some of his older productions (already seen Thriller, but not Smooth Criminal.

Ironic that he ends up getting outlived by the Beatles whose songs he owned the rights to.

The final thing I noticed is that Fawcett's longtime man and her were planning to marry (should've done so years ago, whoops) and MJ seemed to be trying to turn his life around as well with a new concert and selling all his stuff.

I certainly sympathize with his family and his fans (I never really was one myself), and I'm going to sound cold for saying this, but despite the aforementioned, I'm already dreading seeing nothing but this on the news for the next week straight...especially combined with Farrah and that jerk governor from South Carolina, the ratings feeding frenzy is going to overlook the truly important stuff even more shamelessly than usual.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

im still kinda hollow from seeing that Iranian girl bleed to death from being shot in the heart by police a old man with health problems dying from a heart attack is just to be expected. There are bigger things in the world than some pop star and he made a lot of people happy with his music but you know what he will be around longer than any of us. For a fucking long time. I know he has at least one more album due out he has been tucked away making tracks with Will-I-am and a few other people. I think I smell a best of compilation coming on with a good few months in the number one charts. willing to put money on the fact that he will be number one on iTunes for a while (if he is on there) .

still in mourning over the old shmups forum. RIP shmup.com your old format will be missed :(

Yeah, I just heard about this about an hour ago. Sad. It's almost impossible to measure his impact on music, particularly '80's music. What awesome songs and music videos he put out! He will be missed.

I was watching the Thriller music video just Tuesday, one of the best music videos ever and one of the biggest musicians around in my lifetime. It sucks that he's gone, but hopefully now the positive things about his life will be focused on.

I was pretty stunned when I heard this a couple hours ago from a friend. Despite his, erm, predilictions, he was indeed one of the major voices of pop music over the last 30+ years, even if that voice was mostly silent the last 10. Sad that it had to end like that.

He already was to me for quite a long time.

Thriller & Bad were great, but aside of that legacy there's not much positive he will be remembered for.

I am counting the seconds before someone who claims was molested by him as a child tries to sue his estate in compensation.

I still don't believe the molestation claims although I do believe he was probably acting somewhat inappropriately. At any rate, it's all over now - he could have left a legacy like that of Elvis, if it hadn't been for all the bizarre events, but I think he'll still be remembered fondly overall.

I'm expecting Stern to make a MJ pinball machine at some point in the future..

Whatever claims there may have been of child molestation (which I also do not believe), everyone in Michael Jackson's personal life had nothing but good things to say about him. Easygoing, generous, loving, and not to mention smart. His kids are apparently very well behaved and intelligent, which I feel says a lot. Although I certainly think he was a bit nutty, I suspect he was harmlessly so.

Furthermore, I think his first two albums, Off The Wall and Thriller, are excellent pieces of work. He deserves a lot of the hype.

So, will people finally come forward about exactly what he had to do with Sonic 3's music now?
