Surely you mean the back of his head cause pushing down on the front would make him look down ;)

Inverted is meant for flying games if you ask me.
People always say that they think of 'pushing' the back of the head down to look up.

To them, I ask: what about looking left and right?
Yes, with practice this would seem just as natural. No such games exist, though.

I've never heard of anybody inverting the y-axis of a mouse...why the hell would anybody do that?
Tons of people do it, which is why it's an option in nearly every FPS.
I know tons of people do it when they play an FPS with a joystick, and I can understand that even if I don't do it. it290 covered the reasons why someone would do that with a joystick. But with a mouse I don't understand it. It's a direct input device, the crosshair acts like a mouse pointer, it just doesn't make sense to invert that sort of input device. In fact, when I play flight sims with a mouse (not often; I do have a flight stick) I still have it non-inverted, while of course I invert the joystick y-axis.

I invert y-axis for controllers. No invert on mouse. I blame Starfox.

That throws a spanner into the works. Starfox I've always played non-inverted.

The fact that you might not understand why someone would invert the Y axis is the point of the thread.

People do it.

Think of it as the guy's head being mounted on the pad instead of the stick.
