$1136? I'd rather take a HuCard only Japanese version and a Kisado converter if the US one is that much. Could this auction have a shill bidder in it?

If I bid on an auction, I'll often add a few pennies or even a buck or two and change to what I intend to make my final bid. A prospective sniper could be thinking "Ooooh-Kay... He probably bid $50, so I'm going to try to nail him by a dollar". Fifty-one dollars? WRONG BUDDY! I had $53.38 in as my max. Sometimes it's not a bad idea to bump your max bid slightly over what you truly intend to pay- whether you do it early or as a snipe.

I would have to say that the seller probably had some shill bidding to jack up the price. Is it still possible to buy a brand new and sealed TTI variant MC game nowdays? I'd like to see how much that would fetch on eBay. ^_~

Paying the $1,329 ending auction price for a used but complete TTI MC game IMO, is too much $$$ as it is already. But if the buyer already has some very deep pockets, it won't matter anyways. ^_~

I have the Japanese Magical Chase Hucard and original box.

I always knew it was rare and worth something.
Not sealed. How much would I get?

Or does it have to be the USA All The Way version...

On the issue of late bidding. I too think its not necessary. If I really want something I put in a bid early to deter others. Only the highest bidder wins, its not a case of who bids last wins!

Of course, if someone is going to make further bids after a competitor is found then it is beneficial, since your not giving them time to react. But then, the seller might not send you the item, be a complete and utter idiot. The post office might lose your item. So sometimes winning isn't always winning.

If you brag about winning a sniped auction, it just shows your character. But I guess its within the rules of the auction and a won auction is a won auction after all.

Ebay should have a random 10 minute cut off time. So in the last 10 minutes you have to put your FINAL bid. At least that way all is fair and its not about someone with an evil grin.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

That would be completely against Ebay's interests so it won't happen.

And to be honest, I don't see what's unfair about sniping.
Everyone could do that and if the sniper outbids you, you obviously weren't willing to pay as much as he did or you'd have put in a deterring offer yourself.

The Jp version is rare-ish, but has nothing on the US version. Put another way - you'd have NO chance of getting over a $1000 for a JP version (unless it was sealed). And even if it was sealed, I wouldn't fancy your chances...

Then again, even given the US version's rarity, I'm staggered that this one went for so much  Insanely rare it might be, but it has handwriting in the freakin' manual! And the box is by no means mint looking :?

I can't begin to imagine why someone would say that last minute bidding on ebay is some sort of cheating and is immoral

You're obviously dumb, bro.
The only thing early bidding does (on highly sought after items) is inflate the final price.
If you can't figure that out, you've proved my first sentence.

people still haven't worked out how proxy bidding works  i tend to put one bid for my max price straight away.

when i sell stuff, i often get people saying "i bid £15, but i was gonna go up to £20, do you have another for sale?". when i ask why they didn't place another bid, guarenteed every time is because they put their bid in at 5 seconds to go  how these people manage to operate a computer is mystifying

sniping used to be an important part of winning auctions - back in 2001  i guess old habits die hard

Seriously, if you don't get how sniping works and the concept behind emotional bidders, then you either haven't thought it through or you're just a seller trying to inflate prices.

I would be honored if you get a T-Shirt with your favorite color scheme with a "^_~" emoticon printed on the front or the back will suffice just fine. And if anybody asks what's up with that particular emoticon, it's in reference to ol' PCEFX here on the Shmups.org site. ^_~

Perhaps you've never actually bought something off Yahoo Japan before. Unless you buy obscure shit that's more unusual than rare and you can either snipe it with a BIN or nobody bids on a 1-day-only auction, chances are there will be a bid war. Even if auto extend is on, people will still leave it until the last 10-15 minutes remain before placing a bid.

They're hoping that the current bidder is away and can't compete, so people just bid past their limit and win. It's happened to me a couple of times. Especially with doujin soundtracks and figures, which can go for crazy amounts.

On topic, I don't know what this game is nor why it is rare, and I don't care either.

From the seller's point of view, I do think sniping do lower the final price.

For several reasons:
(1) People would re-consider their final offer price when they see the item they want bid over their original final offer.
(2) Some of the snipers may be away or asleep, and forgot or failed to snip.

Having auto extend should ease the problem a bit, at least ensure a fair bidding wars between the snipers.

So I always think twice before starting an auction at $1 with no reserve.

Such a product would be quite an interesting garment. But to further the effect, I would also recommend including the "^_~" emoticon.
