why offer a discount when most people will be pirating their work?

I agree that more community involvement and feedback with the dev process might have been a good way to avoid the attitudes we see now. It's unfortunate, but they made the game they wanted to make. Some liked it and played it. Others hated it and even somehow feel insulted by it and want to spew out as much negativity as possible. Lol internetz.

I don't see anywhere on their site that says "hated the first last hope? buy a new one!". If someone hated the game so much then they probably sold it or never bought it in the first place. I wasn't so fond of Last Hope after a while and I sold mine to get the money back. Now I'm giving this version a go. Am I losing anything here? Nope.

Then you can sell a soundtrack for $30 and a superplay DVD for $50. Just as they reasonably price things in Japan!

I'd buy it at a discount, and they'd still make some profit, which is better than no profit. And I'd feel more like a valued customer, so I'd be more inclined to pre-order their next game (future profit).

It's aimed at people who never played any version of Last Hope.
If you like to show support for new shmups on a long-dead console, you should probably go ahead and order it.

The console is only dead if its not being played which is far from the case in my house.

Why all the feelings of entitlement? They can charge 1000$ for the new last hope. I don't understand why everyone feels ripped off-- . If you want to honor the artist, send money-- I mean, it's NOT a product, it's a piece of art, the makers abviously felt very confident about their game from the beginning. My ethics are, you make something, you set the price. This thread just bugs me, can't anyone just man up and say "homemade shmups are strange", and leave their wallets out of it?

You guys (who bought the game) spent more money than you wanted to and are now taking it out on them.

I thought the game was rediculous, but I bet I'd find the pink bullet version more enjoyable, I think the reprint is a great idea.

We live in a world where these kind of games are free (if your talking about just the game file), so the price is really only symbolic anyways. Why haggle over "free" and "priceless" (which is what it ultimately is). Put your money where your heart is.

I'd imagine the real reason why people feel ripped off is that this has been announced before these jokers have even released their *other* game - you know, the one that their customer base paid for over twelve months ago.

I was talking about the publishing. About the bugs, compare to Iori's Yuri Ori.

If it were free, everyone would hate it more.

Are you talking about Dux? Dux is not made by NG:DEV.TEAM!
Dux is a side project by RHE.

Indeed. That's the odd thing about this game, It abuses people personally. Which is fine as long asy these people acknowledge this, instead of bashing the game to make it look like its has bad gameplay. For us as a dev it's not a problem that some people dislike the game, or point out flaws. It's just the extreme way of expressing rudeness that buffers us.

Does this release have a set edition? I haven't $50 some lying around at the moment, but I'd like to pick it up before it costs hundreds on eBay...

Though I really like the original DC mode on the initial release (owning both normal and LE's and even was supportive enough to buy the NGCD version (don't even own the console) for the DVD, this just baffles me. :? :!:

I have bought and own every single (commercial or not) released DC shmup, but will pass on this if there is not going to be a cheap way of getting the upgrade for existing owners.

Why not offer the people who have been supporting you, a really cheap (almost free) upgrade.
Have them send in a spine by cheap letter mail so you know they actually purchased one and give them a suitable (large!) discount and the spine back...

There´s milking and there´s milking.
And this to be frank sounds like MILKING!
At least get 1 or 2 new stages in or a said some alternative ships or something to make it worthwhile for people who supported your initial release.

I never picked this one up because i hate harsh shooters that force you to memorize the bullet patterns or you die , i never bought the original because of this .

Now this is changed and i just pre- ordered the pink bullet version :P

Anyone who bought the original and didn't like it can sell their copy of the original version on Ebay to get their money back or even make a profit or fund this version .
I don't see the problem .

I love how they made a pink cover and wrote Pink Bullets on it in such classy script.

Big laughs when this is the main selling point of a shooting game.

Rule of thumb:

Any shmup the average player can't reach level 4 after a week is not worth playing. For me anyways!!

I never played the original version, but people said it was almost ridiculously hard to the point of despair. It would be better if you could make it accessible to everyone.
