well for the new ones, you can tell its a JP console by the packaging and warppers around the system.. but for the older ones, im not sure if theres a way...dmauro wrote:I don't need HDMI or the controllers (edit: nevermind, the controller is included, as is the remote even!), so this deal was too good to pass up. It seems to be covered under PayPal warranty for the full purchase price as well. It`s rare to see 360`s at that price.
I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
edit: I just put in an order from PA for DeathSmiles, so it's going to get here well after I get the console. Is there any other way to test that this is definitely a Japanese region console and not an Asian console when I get it?
Question about getting a jp360
I thought popping in a JP game would verify that right away?kk1030 wrote: well for the new ones, you can tell its a JP console by the packaging and warppers around the system.. but for the older ones, Im not sure if there's a way...
I have Death Smile already lol.
I learnt my lesson early, make sure to pick up Shmups when they come out or else you'll be paying an arm and a leg a year or two down the road.
all asia machines are able to play jpgames, not that it has difference between them, but to identify if the machine are really from a excate region, i guess from the packaging is the only way.Shelcoof wrote:I thought popping in a JP game would verify that right away?kk1030 wrote: well for the new ones, you can tell its a JP console by the packaging and warppers around the system.. but for the older ones, Im not sure if there's a way...

360: *red ring*
Me: NOOOooooooo.....
Checking the packaging is the obvious good idea. I don't know why I didn't think of that. Also, this does sound too good to be true, but if anything is wrong with the system either he's refunding my money or Paypal will.
JP machine will only play Region 2 DVDs, Asia machine will only play Region 3 DVDs. I don't know if there are any other practical differences.kk1030 wrote:all asia machines are able to play jpgames, not that it has difference between them, but to identify if the machine are really from a excate region, i guess from the packaging is the only way.Shelcoof wrote:I thought popping in a JP game would verify that right away?kk1030 wrote: well for the new ones, you can tell its a JP console by the packaging and warppers around the system.. but for the older ones, Im not sure if there's a way...

I'll post my experience once I get the 360 ok.XERO wrote:if anyone buys from wintec_industries, please post your experience. IMO...this just seems to good to be true....brand new four year old systems...?just noticed last one of seven sold....bet more will be listed tomorrow.
They have a lot of feedback, seems okay enough.

If you're hard up for HDMI, you can hunt down the Mad Catz HDMI converter for it. It plugs into the regular AV slot and puts out 1080p HDMI. I bought one as an experiment because I didn't believe I could buy something that cool and have it look good, but I did an A/B comparison on my friend's LCD between HDMI straight from the 360 and HDMI from the Mad Catz converter and I couldn't tell the difference (and I am a huge stickler on video integrity). No bleeding or pale colors, just a nice sharp vibrant picture.

I have a launch model Japanese 360 that is still going. Actually that's not true, I had to get it fixed back in January because I zapped it doing something I shouldn't have...Nonetheless it hasn't died on it's own accord yet. Besides that, there are people that can fix the shit for less than $50 for anything that's out of warranty. So let's think this over... $120 for the system. Let's say it breaks on it's own and your warranty is no good. $50 to fix locally. Total is still like $130 less than buying an arcade system from play asia before shipping.

Btw, someone posted about no hdmi. As in no hdmi cable included? or no hdmi input?
it isn't XERO unless it starts with an "X"...
very interetsing point....www.360-pros.com will repair any xbox 360, i called them last week and had a nice chat with one of their techs.Joe T. wrote:Besides that, there are people that can fix the shit for less than $50 for anything that's out of warranty. Waiting for the board to die is a very risky business. Not all dead 360s can be fixed which is why the official repair centers often replace the whole board. If you go down the route of buying a non-Jasper unit, I would recommend having the various mods done on it first. Prevention is always better than cure.
Did you read about my new Japser 360 dying in a little over two weeks?bcass wrote:Waiting for the board to die is a very risky business. Yup E74 Error and brand new Xbox that hadn't been played for very too long.
My buddy has had his for close to 3 years now and still going strong. He's got the oldest model and he plays it a lot.
It's difficult, I think just getting a 360 is very risky. You'll never know when it craps out.
What mods do you speak of? I just recently purchased a 360 it's been less than a month owning one so I never really looked into any type of mods.bcass wrote:Every one of my friends 360s has needed repairing at least once (including my own). Surprised about the Jasper fault, not heard of that happening to anyone else so far. If it's true then it's probably worth getting the mods done on any model you buy, as soon as you buy it.
Though I've read numerous problems.
When I brought back my 360 to Futureshop, I asked the girl there at the return desk how often they get returning 360s. She tells me "Everyday". I said "Even newer models?" she said "Yhaa".
It was funny the day I bought my 360 I was ripping the back of the box to see if I was getting a Jasper. The lady that was working there came up to me three time to see what I was doing lol and to ask if I needed any help. I then finally told her I was interested in purchasing the 360 but am looking to see if it is the latest model. This girl seemed not to know much about video games but told me they have tons of problems with 360 machines. I laughed and said "Don't worry I'm getting the latest model, I wont have any problems" at the same time thinking to myself my new Jasper chipset was invincible. Japser chipset was the reason why I bought a 360 in the first place, assuming MS fixed the whole 360 dying problem.
A little two weeks later when I was booting up Virtua Fighter 5, I saw one red light flashing at the button right and saw the Error I was like wtf???

Turned off turn back on and still not working.
It wasn't the red ring of death so I was like okay, I should be fine. Lets google this and to my surprise this was just as bad as the red ring.
I return it because Futureshop had no more new models left. Go next door to Best Buy and speak to their sales associates about 360, I get the same story on how bad the problem is. The guy working at the register told me they get all models coming in and that I should pick up a warranty plan. I said even Jasper chip sets still have problems? He confirmed it. He said all models have some sort or problem coming in.
The guy looked like he knew what he was talking about though and having my Japser die on me as well, I figured he was telling the truth.
And still I refuse to buy a warranty through Best Buy lol
Do a youtube search for "fix rrod". There's another mod that I've seen where the ventilation system is modified to properly redirect heat from the DVD drive away from the processors. A quick google search will probably unearth it.Shelcoof wrote:What mods do you speak of? You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. If you think Jasper is bad, you are going to experience the worst when your ebay xbox arrives. The 2005 models are heaters, try compare to a Jasper.Shelcoof wrote:What mods do you speak of? That's the risk I'm taking with an older model. I'm glad though that the premium system I'm getting in the mail is less than a retail price of a core system here.kk1030 wrote: If you think Jasper is bad, you are going to experience the worst when your ebay xbox arrives. There really isn't much I can do when the system craps out on me, so I just gotta hope for the best.
