I suppose these would be the one's I would look for:

Dangun Feveron
DoDonPachi
ESPra.de.
Raiden Fighters
Strikers III
Viper Phase 1
Shikigami No Shiro 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
X-Men
Metal Slug

Honorable mention:

Borderline (only because I already own the dedicated cab)

So far my favorites are -

ESP ra.de
Dragon Blaze
Strikers 1945 plus
Mr driller 2
Any slug
Bust a move again ex
Spin master
Shinobi
Wonderboy

I don't have many PCB's but I own all of the above. Most PCB's that are named above in the other favorites would be a shot in the dark for me because I've never played them and I don't own a PC for MAME to check them out. So spending $300+ on a PCB is a big no no.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Let's see what I have now (or have coming in the mail):

OutZone
Blazing Star
Pulstar

And here are my personal top 10 wanted:
Ketsui
ESP RaDe
Progear
Pulstar
Metal Slug (1, 2, 3, or X)
R-Type
Tatsujin 2
Shikigami no shiro (G.Net)
Strikers 1945 II
Mars Matrix

Woohoo, I'm 10% of the way to having all of my top 10... although cost-wise is nowhere near 10% -___________________- Especially with having to get a G.Net & MVS & CPS-2...

Esperade
Ketsui
Dangun
Guwange
Raiden Fighters
Raiden Fighters Jet

Scoring is simple;

Gain a multiplier by pressing B to fire penatrive shot and have the enemy blow up with max number of bubbles over enemy -

Then press A to shoot everything else (while B charges) thus gaining said multiplyer for the chain.

Something like that anyway.

To be honest I don't think the scoring is very "deterministic"; I imagine you would get frustrated as a score player. The game is very fun though.

Esprade is almost entirely different than ESPGaluda, the only weak point is if you´re really playing for score competitively, you are forced to milk bosses for minutes, which can get pretty boring, as the attack patterns are just repeated endlessly.

2. Mr. Driller G

3. Progear

4. Metal Slug X

a few are expensive, most are cheaper than new console releases. It´s the post-1995 games that get expensive on a regular basis. The problem with these old games, however, is their life expectancy is slowly fading. As long as you handle new games carefully, they are pretty much hassle-free, but for the old ones you should be prepared to spend more time fixing them than playing them.

I'd only have a handful of post 1995 games so It wouldn't be to bad for me.

If I had the money I would surely get-

Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting and maybe Super Turbo
Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha
Street Fighter Alpha 3:Upper *not sure if it's the exact name*
Fatal Fury 3
Raiden Series
Gradius Series
R-TYPE Series including Leo

PCBs I'd want to own:

Raiden Fighters 1 and 2 (Jet would be nice, but I could live without it)
Viper Phase 1
Dodonpachi
Neogeo w/ Blazing Star, Metal Slug, Shock Troopers
Gradius 2
Battle Bakraid
Centipede/Millipede (this would probably have to be a dedicated cab though)

This wouldn't leave much room for any CPS2 stuff though.
We want you, save our planet!
