Degaussing with a magnet and power drill.

Post by mortified_penguin »

Has anyone actually tried this with any degree of success?

I've got a basketball sized area at the top of my monitor where everything red comes through as yellowish orange. Never noticed it playing Raiden Fighters but it's pretty evident with Viper Phase 1.

Can't really afford a degaussing wand/coil right now and the magnet + drill method keeps coming up so I figured it was worth a shot. Just seems like there is a pretty good chance of making things worse this way. :?

I'd try it
Worst case scenario, you'd need a stronger magnet/degausser to undo it.

you will need 2 magnets....tape them to the end of the drill bit very securely....then just start the drill up and move it towards the screen and make circular motions....focus on the problem areas and make the same circular motions as you back away from the screen before you turn off the drill....

should work unless you have something in the cab that is magnetized and causing the problem
