Question about getting a jp360

Post by 2dvertical »

I think I might bite the bullet and go ahead and get one. Just wondering though, will I still be able to get dlc like ikaruga and omega5 etc.. I'm not sure how xbl exactly works region to region. Are there good US games that I can still buy and play on it? I have a ps3 so this is just sort of a shmup console. Just looking ahead though, deathsmiles isnt on playasia and 1 copy on ebay. I dont really want to get this and find that the games are already considered "rare" and overpriced. Any info regarding this purchase would be appreciated.

ps. if the console bonks out am I screwed?

elixir has a good thread over in hardware for J 360s.

yes

You can play region free games and asian games

I dont really want to get this and find that the games are already considered "rare" and overpriced.
DS is prolly just low on stock ATM, sold really well ya know. If you want rare, wait two years and try to get when its out of print.

ps. if the console bonks out am I screwed?
as always

Wow that seems like a good price I wish my japanese premium cost that much when I bought it.

All seems OK. The price is really good, isn't it?

I live in Spain, and I bought the console in february and I paid more than 100$ only in shipping costs (EMS from Japan). More than 300$ in total.

360 is horribly unreliable, it can bonk out at anytime.

I bought a new system not too long ago and a little over two weeks it gave me the E74 error.

This was a jasper chipset too so don`t be surprised if it dies on you all soo soon.

But again the 360 has some really fun games, I`d pick it up over a PS3 anyways.

Yes, cause everybody knows that PS3 haves tons of shmups.

I went through and tested about 20 or so of my US games on my Japanese 360 when I first bought it, and found that around 80-90% of them worked. Play-Asia has a good compatibility list, so now I just check that:

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-xbox ... guide.html

As far as downloads go: You'll be able to download all of the US content with your US profile. You'll need to create a Japanese profile to download any Japanese content (like Deathsmiles MBL).

Side note... Netflix doesn't seem to work on my Japanese 360. It must be able to tell that it's a Japanese system, even though it's in the US. Bummer. I'm not sure if this would also affect any movies/tv shows you tried to download from marketplace or not, or if this is strictly a Netflix thing. I haven't tested it. But all of the Live Arcade games should be downloadable and playable fine. Just make sure to download them with your US account (I think you'll have to, anyway).

Actually, I've heard from a poster on another forum that when his system died, he was able to send it in and have it replaced. He was instructed to note on the 360 that it was a Japanese system when he sent it in. This is second hand hearsay of course, but I see no reason why he should lie, and he's on my XBL Friend's List.

I e-mailed the seller about shipping cost. Hopefully I can pick it up for that good price listed.

It`s rare to see 360`s at that price.

Death Smiles is in stock. Both normal and overpriced but still worth it Limited Edition.

I have a feeling you typed it as "deahsmiles" instead of "death smiles" so it didn't come up.

Considering I also bought the Trigger Heart Exelica LE I'd say yes, I am completely nuts.

BTW if you do buy the regular edition the LE soundtrack is up for DL on my blog.

Your not screwed if it bonks out.
MS cover world wide warranty.
I sent mine and got it fixed after having the 3rod.

Works a treat now!

I remember reading something saying that the warranty was not valid in Europe, maybe its my imagination, but if someone could check, then it will be nice.

I read that as well. Can't point you to any specific threads, but as I'm in Europe and in the midst of importing a J360, I took note of this.

Why are people still posting to this thread when all of these questions have been answered in the one linked to above?

because a question is asked in the initial post, then the answers wander.....that japanese xbox 360 stick is very informative.

I don't need HDMI or the controllers (edit: nevermind, the controller is included, as is the remote even!), so this deal was too good to pass up. It seems to be covered under PayPal warranty for the full purchase price as well. And that auction linked above is over, but here's the same one with 6 left.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

edit: I just put in an order from PA for DeathSmiles, so it's going to get here well after I get the console. Is there any other way to test that this is definitely a Japanese region console and not an Asian console when I get it?

No joke. I just purchased one too :D Hopefully it's what it's touted as.

Ask it "dai jou bu?" and if it responds "dai jou bu" it's probably JP.

For 120$ you can't go wrong with the price.

It comes with 20HDD and Headset.

NCSX sells their jasper core systems for 320$ that's more than half the price. That price doesn't even include shipping. Shipping on NCSX is like 60$ for me.

The guy charged me 40$ for USPS shipping. (hopefully he remembers)

I know this is probably the oldest model but it is very affordable at the moment.

I purchased one not too long ago.
