What do you think about the new fangled SCEI PSP Go! portable handheld? It's supposed make it's grand debut and retail for $249.99 USD on October 1st, 2009 across the USA. There was no mention about a UMD access hatch but it does have a whopping 16GB of internal storage space for games, movies, and other PSP content. ^_~

Looks neat, but launching a new PSP for $250.00 in the middle of a recession is not a good idea.

As to the question of what current PSP owners do with their UMD's:

That's definitely a good thing!

Speaking of Sony, this new addition to Wipeout HD looks amazing!!:

I'm disappointed that there wasn't a lot more shown of White Knight Story, but it's from Level-5, and they never disappoint!

Only Sony is genius enough to totally deny ppl a price reduction on the PS3 and at the same time drop a $250 bomb portable in the middle of a recession.

Only if Sony was able to release it's PS3 console at launch at a more respectable $299-$399 pricepoint back in late 2006, they would've sold more. But since they lost money in making the expensive hardware, the only way to recoup some those production costs is through selling of first party PS3 software. ^_~

SCEA will eventually lower the price on a PS3 but it sure was hell when they decided to launch at $499.99 and $599.99. ^_~

Let's see... Take away the ability to use UMDs and jack up the price to $250? Yeah, I think I'll pass. I can't even find enough good stuff on the PSP to fill up an overpriced 1GB MS Pro Duo stick, much less 16GB. I don't think I've even used my PSP for anything but Disgaea for more than a couple of hours as is.

And while I'm on the subject, I'm still waiting for there to be more than three games on PS3 that I'm interested in. I could possibly see getting one after a price drop to $300, but not at the current price.

I think the Sony guys saw the DSi and thought "Oh yeah? Well, we can release a crippled overpriced DLC-encrusted version of our handheld SO MUCH HARDER."
