(shmup) Project V coming to psn?

Post by 2dvertical »

Searching for a glimmer of hope for the ps3 I stumbled upon some links from "just add water"? about a shmup called project v supposedly coming to the psn, to be shown at the upcoming E3. Anyone here of this?

to add a quote:

"It's first-party for Sony, so we can't talk about it too much, but it's a retro shooting game," chomped JAW boss Stewart Gilray to VG247. "It's for PS3 and PSP.

I tend to agree but I'll reserve judgment until more info about project v is released.

The PixelJunk game looks good. Enjoyed Monsters and Eden quite a bit, so I'm looking forward to that one.

'Project V' = Gravity Crash

http://www.jawltd.com/

Looks... a lot like the PixelJunk game actually, though with more action and Geometry Wars style graphics. Also features a 4 player mode and a level creator.

This reminds me a bit of the Genesis Sub-Terrania with vector graphics. So far so good- the movie of this one left me impressed.

The PS3 can boast that it has two CAVE shooters coming soon. In caves rather than by Cave, but still, you take what you can get.

Not sure I get your meaning "in caves." Please advise.

You pilot your ship through caves while shooting things. It was just a throwaway joke...

That's exactly what I was thinking! Sub-Terrania + Geometry Wars = Gravity Crash

I was just thinking about how cool cave (as in holes in the earth) based shmups are when I saw the video you posted, and I was going to make the same stupid joke! You beat me to it. 'm looking forward to this one for sure...

As a side note (and another blatant plug of the mag and website I work at) my workmate Ed write this article the other day, and visited Just Add Water. There's a modest profile a little way down, and they talk about a PSN game they are working on. I guess they meant Gravity Crash.

And I like what PixelJunk do, so let's hope they do a nice job on this shooter.

may not be a shmup but it looks cool to me. has anyone ever played Thrust for Commodores, or the Atari 2600 port by Thomas Jentzsch in 2000?

This game is now out in the US (maybe other places too?)! $9.99 US, and there is a demo.

I've only played through the demo so far, but I enjoyed it enough to purchase it immediately upon completion. I think PixelJunk will probably be better, but Gravity Crash feels and plays great for what it is. I'm also looking forward to seeing what the level editor can do.

Been playing this a fair bit over the last few days. The main campaign isn't that hard, but I've been having a lot of fun with the level editor, which is really easy to use. Here's one of my levels which features recreations of some games you might be familiar with... (apologies for the picture quality);

Let's just say that this REALLY isn't my taste.
Looks & sounds great, but I am so easily frustrated by this type of game that I deleted the demo after a few plays already.
Not necessarily for any shmupo I'd say. :|

But since the demo is free, everyone can decide for their own. :P
