I went here to see what kind of prices it would be for printing a poster size image from a digital source. But I don't know what is the best paper.
The choices are 170gsm, 190gsm and 285gsm. The finishes are satin and gloss. Please let me know what professionals would choose.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Well, it depends on the image in question and what type of printing is being used. I tend to use a lot of matte paper for graphic type work, and I also like it for photographs. I don't think gloss looks good at that size at all (too much glare and blacks tend to have too much sheen). A good matte paper will give you a much richer looking image, but satin is okay too. I would go for the heaviest weight possible, although 285 is quite thick (think watercolor paper).
There is really a lot more to paper than weight and finish, but if those are your choices I would say 285gsm satin would be my preference (if matte is not available).
