Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

It's a nice avatar but you've had it for a long time. Use a picture of yourself in a new pose, maybe put on your Sunday best or something.

Aye, take Dale's for example: He's wearing a fancy suit in his picture and also manages to show us his occupation.

I keep it b/c I've had it for a long time.... plus it makes it so much easier when folks keep a avatar on here. I mean it's not needed but it's kinda like folks you know keeping the same face and all.

So, how's the game? Anyone has some experience about it? I have been asked if I could put some cash and order a board for the uni arcade...

rando, here's some pricing info:
http://www.arcadeotaku.com/forum/viewto ... f=2&t=2997

if they already have the cabinets, KOF XII can play 2P off one kit, as far as i know. so something like $3500 :!: how busy is this uni..?

i'd heard it's more kof'94 old-school gameplay (but can't even remember where i heard this), but even if true, that is fine by me. they've done the hard part (updated sprites), so the gameplay tweaks can come later

roll on july :D

Played it a couple of weeks ago at the AOU in Japan. It takes a little while to adjust to character size and range, but then it's business as usual. Hits are so solid, it's awesome.

Lots of popular moves have been stripped though.

On a good day, they get *a lot* of BA's dicking around all day, drinking beer and playing games (or watching cricket, ack) instead of studying/going to lessons  single plays are also expensive, right now SFIV 2 AUD per single credit and something like 5/three credits in a row. I'd say they can cover the board in a month, take or give one month...

Let's cross fingers, I like this "back to basics" style.

How far did they strip moves? `96-era? `94-era? `97-era [best case scenario]?

We're talking 94 shit. Iori has no fireball, Clark missing trademark grab, Kim has lost his charge back, toward move etc.

Just saw this at The Fighter's Generation: Official KOF XII Sprite Viewer. Once it loads, click the "new!" tabs at the top-right to view the characters. The VCR-ish controls up top let you play the animations. Each character has three, selectable from the drop-down menu up top; idle and two attacks.

Looking pretty nice. I like the visible force of that knee from Mature.

This makes sense, since he lost his powers in XI.

All of those moves are post-'94

It's only the Frankensteiner that Clark is missing; he still has the Super Argentine Backbreaker. Personally I think that Iori has been in major need of a shake-up for some years now. While Kyo has been through numerous iterations over the years, Iori has remained stagnant. I like the new one.

I can't stop staring at mai. SNK probably blows most of their budget redrawing her boobs over and over again

Too bad they don't have Mai on that frame by frame animation viewer. So did we get a high res version of Joe's ass cheeks in this one or did they take out that taunt?

Holy shit, those sprites are big!

Also, I love how clean everything looks compared to previous games, there's not nearly as much as that ditherless shading as before [which looked pretty bad].

Never played a KoF game in my life apart from random arcade encoutners. Im a SF kinda guy but I have to get this game as it simply looks beatiful/awesome.

How hard would the transition from SF to KoF be? Anything that sets them appart game mechanics wise? I think I recall something with 2 planes of fighting, or was that an Art of Fighting game?

Is Mai in the game?

Has it been confirmed that it will be out this Juli for consoles?

The multi-plane fighting was only in some Fatal Fury games, iirc. None of the KOFs have used it. KOF 94-98 allow a stationary "sidestep" dodge, but it's only that; fighting is all on one plane like SF.

You'll have to get used to the jumping thing. There's high jumping, medium, and low if I recall correctly.
