Last Hope: Pink Bullets - DC

Post by Gmintyfresh »

Not sure if this has been highlighted before, it looks like there's going to be an enhanced re-release of Last Hope:

Image

Last Hope: Pink Bullets [Pre-Order]

This edition features improved on screen visibility in comparison to its 1st print. That and various other features make the game less hard to allow a more accessible gameplay experience.

Features: VMU, Joypad and Arcade Stick support.p>

Production: Offset printed Inlaycard, offset printed booklet, DVD casing, professional CD pressing, full colour 12 page booklet.

Didn't the NGCD version already have this? I have to assume there are more unannounced changes...

I haven't played Last Hope yet, so I'll have to ask:

Was it really that hard to the point of this being necessary?

The enemies explode into scattering, harmless red balls that look VERY similar to enemy bullets. common scene= tons of explosion balls clouding your ship plus one bullet ball fired at you from point blank.

basically, total uncertainty of what you're supposed to dodge. Imagine if you're strapped into a chair and someone sprayed a spray bottle of water on your face but one of the droplets was deadly poison if it goes in your mouth. That's what it feels like to play that game.

Well Last Hope was designed with the intention to create a NEO GEO game that is still a challenge to memorizer veterans like me, that have beaten several times all R-Types [arcade], Last Resort, Pulstar, Viewpoint and you name it. So yes the difficulty of the original AES release was enormous. However the Last Hope Pink Bullet release can be enjoyed by both casual gamers and cavaniacs.

This is a re-release mainly for people who don't own or know Last Hope yet. We are NOT thinking that all of the previous buyers will buy this again. It's up to them whether they support us again or not...

I dunno.. instant respawn along with it being more easy overall, as well as being faster from the start along with the goddamn bullets actually being VISIBLE this time around almost makes the game seem...well, tolerable.

That being said, I'm still not interested unless I hear some decent reviews from those of you brave enough to try it. :P

I never played this the first time around so I'm considering it. Too bad the conversion rate from Euros to Dollars stinks.

Re-release the OST as well then, as I didn't get to hear how good it was until it had sold out.

If you bundle it for a bit extra, i'll pay up.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

We will release in July an AST/OST combination on one disc as well. The OST will be digitally re-mastered by a professional studio and there will be various remixes, two of them are made by the original composer Rafael Dyll.

More details to follow the next weeks.

Even with pink bullets (which aren't even the best color, and feels like it's taking a jab at anyone who would buy it), it's still a game that requires you to memorize everything to even complete the first stage.

It's not just the pink bullets, the list on this Hucast link is missing at least one important detail. You have now permanent the pod.

* Six credits and instant respawn during one credit
* Higher ship speed from beginning
* Permanent rotary protection unit
* Five difficulty levels
* Overall less hard difficulty
* Altered stage color theme for higher visibility
* Pink enemy bullets

Thanks to this changes the strict memorizing of each detail is not anymore required.

I own Last Hope LE (Dreamcast)
Last Hope (Dreamcast)
Last Hope (Neo Geo CD)

now Last Hope Pink Bullets

and i'm still waiting for Dux LE and Dux to appear through the letter box.

Methinks that the timing of this announcement its a bit of a piss take -is it not??

-You guys are kind of taking the faith and good will of your customers for granted.

Anychance of a discount for all the idiots that have bought your games only to be taken in and then told.... wait, here's the proper alpha fixed game it should have been in the first place....

my hopes for Dux are starting to slip.... is there going to be Dux (Pink , Yellow, Red -whatever) in a years time too??

I showed my support first time round. I think I might like some of the changes in this new version, but I'm not prepared to pay full price again for what amounts to some upgrades to a game I already bought.

C'mon, give me a discount that acknowledges I already bought Last Hope once, but am prepared to pay a fair price just for the upgrades.

Damn! Should have bombed.

I'd still reccomend some other name besides "Pink bullets". Also will you add any sort of scoring system?

This edition of the game is only important for people who have issues with the previous ones. People who are fine with their previous version, can easily pass on this. Most people consider the NGCD version of Last Hope the best, and there aren't even one complaint about this. There's no need for improvment, its pretty much perfect. Pink Bullets instead is rather like a different game, aiming a different kind of player, which has not much left memorizing and stratgical gameplay - Its not fixing Last Hope NGCD, it just makes it accessiible for people who are not in favour with this subgenre.

So, while Last Hope Pink Bullets improves EVERYTHING that people complain about the game, it also makes it a completly different experience that nobody forces you to buy. For me this edition repleaces the previous ones at all.
is there going to be Dux (Pink , Yellow, Red -whatever) in a years time too??
Why not? ;)

Take a look at CAVE. They do that since years, and no complaint.
Udderdude wrote:´Also will you add any sort of scoring system?
Nope, I think you're taking it a bit too far. The game isn't meant to be a scoring shooter at all, just a more accessible gameplay experience. I find a good scoring system has to be there from beginning anyway.
