Post by Daika110 »

Anyone know of a place where this can be had at a REASONABLE price. I've checked ebay and of course its gouge central over there.

I got it from Play-asia. Wasn't that cheap, but it's an import, you can't expect it to be.

Yeah I checked there - been out of stock for some time now. Same with NCSX.

There are some on Yahoo! Japan for 4900 yen and up. That's not too bad.

I can't really help you any more than that. I'm not very good with Japanese yet-- I'm still learning.

At the very least, it's a hell of a lot better than the shitty prices on eBay and such.

I honestly don't know if you're able to order stuff from Yahoo Japan if you're not actually from Japan. I've never shopped there before. This is the first time I've actually ever looked anything up on the site.

If you can't, maybe one of the members here from/in Japan may be willing to help you?

To put it in perspective, 4900 yen is around $51 USD. Compare to the $120+ prices on eBay and other sites (if they aren't already sold out!).

In other words, if you can get your hands on it around that price, I'd say 'Yeah, it's worth it.'

I really wish Atlus would try to localize this but it seems like they won't... :(

I think it would do really poor in the U.S. The game is targeted at serious shmup players, with no levels. Actually, I heard there's one unlockable level (if so, I've yet to unlock it), but for the most part, the game is about dodging massive patterns of bullets.

I'm glad I got the game, but if there's gonna be a U.S. release, it should be of the whole game on 360.

The way I see it, it's definitely worth it for the superplay DVD alone.

Yeah. I seriously doubt it would sell enough to be localized, unfortunately.

That being said, if you ARE indeed able to buy stuff from Yahoo Japan without being in Japan, I'm so going to add Ketsui DS to my library once I have more money to throw away. I've yet to see any good handheld shmups, so this is probably going to be my only option for a portable shmupping experience. I don't even care that I'm going to suck at it. :p

The superplay is floating around the 'net.. you could download the game too if you have a way of playing it. DS emulation is pretty good now these days yeah?

I traded my DS Lite for a DSi when it came out. Emulators supposedly don't work on those, unfortunately. And really, $50-60 isn't so bad.

For the record, they do now. Just the newer ones with the -i suffix at the end.
On topic: 50-60 isn't bad at all, though it's pretty much what I paid for a brand new copy the first day it came out.

Seriously? The hackers work fast. :D

Either way, I still plan on buying the actual game.

That's what I was referring to, though. I can't imagine playing a DS game on anything other than a DS-- it kind of defeats the whole purpose! :p

It was expensive to begin with, it'll never be a cheap game to own.

Play-Asia sold it for something like $56 at release, so if you get it anywhere around that price you can feel satisfied in not having been gouged too much.
