Edit: 6/26 - Managed to 1CC Mushihime-sama on maniac . Had zero bombs and zero lives left too... now -that- was a close last battle. I feel damn good about it though. This counts as an extra .5 of Cave game for me.
Edit: 6/12 - I 1CCed Dodonpachi today! Woot! Added a new post...
<gloat>
I managed to 1CC Mushihime-sama today! *happy dance* I only was able to pull it off on ordinary... maniac is still a bit out of my reach. Nevertheless, I was really frickin' happy to be able to do it at all.

Nice. Gotta love Cave for their perfection when it comes to difficulty curve. I've done Dodon, Esprade and Galuda so far, and the beauty part is that finishing the game like that is really only that start. They're the only developer who's games I want to come back to after the clear. Most other games I just sort of drop like used gum.

Ha! and you said you weren't that great! Can't wait to see you guys play later this month. My problem has been that I play for score right off the bat, trying for maximum chains...so I don't get very far. Only now am I switching to C-S on DDP and "trying" not to chain...its difficult as I want to chain and grab bees! Gotta unlearn some stuff just to 1cc now.

Congrats man, 1CC'ing ANY Cave shmup is impressive!

And I wonder how long it will be before someone 1CC's maniac? It looks like it would at least take some tutoring from the devs. j/k
I think you mean Ultra.
Oh, snap. Yeah, whichever mode looks like violet, lilac colored walls of death.
i cannot wait to try and navigate this shit when the ps2 port is released. i am so bad with money...
Congrats. I did ESPGaluda recently. I played Mushihime before release (beta test). Some people are saying that normal mode is their easiest game to 1CC, but the few times I played it I only managed to get to stage 3, without concentrating at all on score. I was sort of a deer in the headlights though wi th the very lovely graphics.

Same here, it's funny how imagery can remind you of shooters. We have lilac bushes around our neighborhood and every time I look at them I now think of the game. Plus we area surrounded by a medium sized valley with lots of trees and farm machinery which for some reason reminds me of Garegga.
Thanks everyone . I'm going to keep working on DDP and ESPGaluda next... I'd like to practice ESPRade more (probably my favorite Cave shmup... maybe second after Mushi) but I keep getting screwed at the same places, so I need to take a break.
It's funny, I finally managed to 1CC Mushi and it only makes me want the home release more. C'mon July!!!

I never played this until after extensive hours on ESPGaluda and Ketsui. Both games that have more bullets, but smaller hitboxes... or so it seems. There is just something about ESPRade that doesn't settle well with me.

Well, it will have the arrange mode, and is a much cheaper way of practicing manic and ultra.

True. I can get to stage 4 on manic pretty consistently, but I've only made it to the boss once. I guess that means manic isn't a total waste of money, but... ultra? Yeah, that's a waste of money.
I'm very curious as to what Arrange will hold. ESPGaluda arrange mode is just a shiltoad more bullets. Since there are already these two modes, I think they'd have to spice it up more.
Does the cab you're playing in Japan have additional autofire buttons rigged up to it? ie. underneath A and C, are there A+ and C+ buttons in operation?
Congrats
When I saw this post, I was almost compelled to say some stupid joke like "Oh that's big, I've 1c'd Dangun Feveron about 100 times"- and then I remembered that I HAVE 1c'd a cave game! It was a long time ago, and I took a picture of it. Man! I look worked! I'm normally a handsome devil.
*edit
Sorry if anyone saw that- I posted it and it was about a foot tall! You could see right up my nose. Is this big OK?

Thanks ^_^
Yeah, the cabinet had autofire buttons. In fact, I've never seen a Cave game except Donpachi that didn't. Even non-manic games often have auto-fire buttons setup... which I love. Makes it easier on the hands.
Heh, I guess I'm on a roll these days. I managed to 1CC Dodonpachi today~ I've been wanting to do that for -years- ... yet I never could get the patterns down enough to do it. After I had a particularly good run the other day I decided that I'd practice DDP and see if I could pull off a 1CC... and I did! Hurrah! Remember everyone, if you practice enough, you can 1CC anything!

Ketsui? I'd love to. First I need a few thousand dollars for a cabinet and the board though.
On a slightly more serious note: I've played Ketsui a bunch in the arcade, but man oh man does it kick my ass. Lovely game though. I think my next goal might be to beat Gradius V. Not 1CC it, just beat it.
Ketsui does indeed turn really brutal at about the halfway point of stage 3. I still maintain that Ketsui is more of a bullet Hell than Dodonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou.
