I know we have a couple of cyclists here, so let's post pictures of your bikes!

This first one is my flatland BMX. My balance sucks and I can hardly do any flatland stuff at all. I use it from time to time as transportation. It has a 1" threaded headset which sucks, although my main draw to it was the V-brakes, which you don't often see on this type of BMX.

BMX

Next is my freeride rig. It's a '98 19" Kona Muni-Mula cross-country bike that I converted with some big tires and a '99 Marzocchi Z1 QR-20. It's in pieces now since I hardly do freeride anymore, I've been too cheap to replace broken parts on my other MTB so I've been grabbing stuff from this one.

Freeride

Here's my baby. I ride this one the most and I'll use it for transportation and for fun. This here is a '99 13" Gary Fisher Tassajara cross-country frame, but it's incredibly sturdy. The stock fork was a RockShox Jett C which I replaced with a Kona Project Two rigid fork. When I broke that trying to climb up a ledge that was just a little bit too high, I replaced it with a DMR Sidekick. I think it's practically unbreakable but it also weighs over 3 pounds which is insanely heavy for a rigid fork.

Trials

Unfortunately I've been very conservative with maintenance costs lately since I've been throwing all my money into video games :(

Burnout much?

I don't ride much these days, but I have a Cannondale F400 mountain bike with HeadShox front suspension I use on occasion. I've always liked Cannondales for their lightweight construction and the way they're put together with no visible welds.

I have a cannondale with no suspension and have no plans of replacing it. I've had it for 7 or so years now and it's served me very well. I've thrown it over a number of fences, thrown it across rivers and pits, dragged it through ice and water while walking across logs we pushed into rivers, replaced numerous pieces of it that I've accidentally torn off or bent while wiping out, and coated it in many many MANY layers of mud

That's how mountain bikes are supposed to look

Forest/construction-site/non-paved-trail riding rules.

This is my 1990 Eddy Merckx racer, living in its usual spot next to the fridge (my apartment is small). You can also see my speargun in the corner behind it. One smooth ride on this baby

Now about that maintenance thing...

well i don't have pictures of MY bike but here is an approx.

the basic outline of my bike is the same. but my tires are worn and not stupid looking. the chain ring is straight metal, the seat is plain black and also broken (if i lean back, i get nutted), and also my front fork is a heavier grade.

also, doesn't have the lavin logo. instead labeled Fatboy.

i love the thing to death. funness personified into a bike.

oh and iatneH, you should have seen the jump that broke my collar-bone. it was awesome. i should also note, i will never wish for another injury, because apparently, they hurt a lot. *nods*

Yeah, I broke my left elbow a few years ago off a small jump too. It was a very bad jump, because I didn't know how to jump, and I never bothered to jump again after that.

...So..I can't launch off ramps and jumps, but I can climb up vertical ledges about 3' to 4' high as long as I have a little bit of a runway

High speeds scare me :p

I had some bike videos that I haven't watched in a while, but there's this old school one called Hammer Time, the guys are wearing spandex and riding this POS bikes but it's really some amazing skill.
BMX videos freak the Hell out of me, the guys aren't even wearing helmets most of the time, and I can't comprehend how they can manual since from my experience, BMX brakes SUCK.

That looks a lot like the "P.K Ripper" I used to own like back 15 to 20 years ago...
Mine was Candy Apple Red, and I could perform many tricks thanks to the lightweight aluminum frame.
Now, when I ride, I have a 21 Speed DiamondBack mountain bike.
It needs a chain and a cleaning right now though. Plus, its rider could quit smoking for better results.

one of these days i have to psyche myself up about trying things again. i was out riding with my brother a couple weeks ago, and we cut through a parking lot with those cement barriers around it. he pulled up his front wheel and just coasted over it, looked back... and saw me slow down, put my feet on the ground and raise the bike over the barrier. he chuckled at my fear, and it hurt deep inside.

also, i know that given my past experiences, i could jump successfully (and well) if i tried again. just got to get to that point.

That's my flatland bike. It used to be a Haro Shredder, but piece by piece it got transformed.

No worries sven, I'm hoping to pick up some motorised wheels later on too.

flux, how many teeth does the chainring on your BMX have? Mine has something huge and it makes it pretty hard to do any flatland stuff... not that I could do any to begin with, other than a barpsin or 0.02% of all attempted tailwhips...

My trials MTB has a 22-34 front range, although I took off the derailleur and keep the chain on the small ring. I have a single-chainring setup although the crank spider is busted and I haven't bothered to fix it... I'll eventually go back to a single 22-tooth for it.

It's a 28. You probably have a 44 or something around there.

I've always thought that you and I share a lot of things in common; age within 2 months, muscle cars, shoot'em ups, general views. BUT THIS REALLY TAKES THE BISCUIT - I have a P.K. Ripper too!!

I've still got it, white 1983, frame too short for me now, I'll need to get a 21" toptube for my next BMX (I still want to ride quarters & halves again).

I used to ride freestyle in the UK skateparks. I still have a couple of photos of me doing 5-6ft aerials off a Vincent Frames Quarter Pipe in Southsea Skatepark aged 16. I'll try to scan them & post'em up, my car too.

Haha, that's a kick-ass bike.

For something that's tiny enough to ride on, I'd personally pick a Ducati 999 replica pocket bike for the kitsch factor and because I'm too cheap to afford the real thing.

theres a guy here in GR who collects Ducati's to a certain extent, i think he has 7-9 of them. also, he was looking to sell one not too long ago for around $7,000

Jesus. I'd love to have one for that price, but I'm currently broke at the moment and if I did have that kind of money, I doubt I'd want to ride it that much since they're so purty to ride, and it'd suck if it got damaged.

Cool thread, here's one of mine, it needs repainted and new stencils. A work in progress so to speak, although work has halted for a few years now. A really rare frame the Mini Twinn, built for only 1 year in 1968.
