I'm the same way, hence why i'll never be truly competitive on the hiscore boards here. It takes a different kind of person than me to stick to the same shmup for weeks.

This is the smartest sounding spambot ever. It just takes lines that have been posted earlier in the thread, but at least that way it's almost on-topic.

Took me about 4 months to 1cc DDP (Saturn), which was my very first 1cc.

My second 1cc was Blast Wind (Saturn), and I did it within a week of buying it. lol

DDP was my first 1-ALL that I was genuinely excited about. I sat down on a Friday having never gone past the first two levels of DDP, did nothing but play it all weekend, and 1-ALLed it that Sunday :D . Accidentally got the loop too, via 330+ chain on a fluke in stage 5 because I was out of bombs and it practically auto-chains with C-S, haha.

That is a little misleading though, since I had been playing the much harder DOJ for a few months before I ever even attempted DDP, so I sort of knew what to expect. DOJ was the first shmup I ever took seriously, and is what "got me into" shmups, so I guess you could say it took me a few months (6-ish?) to get my first 1cc.

Prior to that I had cleared a couple of Touhou games on Hard but I'm not really sure if that counts because, well, you get like ~12 lives and 9000 bombs in one credit of Touhou. Amongst other cheesy features like bombing after you die...

About seven months or more for me to 1CC the first loop of Progear, visiting the arcade once or twice a week. I might have done the odd one or two before then, but that was the first 'meaningful' one for me.

I wouldn't worry about how long it takes though - it's arbitrary anyway, as how often you play is probably a more affecting factor.

About 9 months. I started playing my first shooter Ikaruga in January and cleared it in September w/21mio.

This is either the least funny joke ever made or you have a serious mental problem.

i laughed

ikaruga was the first with 18 hours. silvergun was the first meaningful one. i'd owned it for about a year, but i was out of work in the summer of 2005. i had two TVs, and i spent virtually every day sat there playing silvergun and watching england in the ashes. we won, and i got the 1cc. it was almost magical. the next year i 1cc'd battle garegga in six weeks, i think that might be a record.

ibara is the one i'm gunning for at the moment (or will be)
