Because the story, acting, directing and editing are all terrible. It looks like a movie for the Sci-Fi channel, not something that actually got a theatrical release, and it's full of plot holes you could drive a truck through.

I too find it enjoyable, but not on its own merits. It's great to MST3K.

they used phantoms instead of real migs? dam i never noticed that.

Yeah last samurai I thought was a great film but tom cruise ruined it by being too big a star for the role. better suited to some unknown guy.

Oh man, and how about Magnolia? I'm angry he lost to Michael Caine for the Oscar that year :(
