Perhaps all the respective anime IPs owned by their respective companies agreed for a proper USA release. I'm sure that entailed jumping through many legal copyright issue hoops...no easy feat these days, especially for USA region based games ^_~

You might recall the real reason why Heavy Metal 1981 film wasn't released on VHS or Laserdisc format back in the early 1980s is because not all the copyrights had been secured from the respective music companies that owned the rights to all the songs featured on it. I remember quite well when it was finally released on VHS format back in the mid-1990s and later on DVD format when it became more prevalent in the home A/V market. Of course, the HM film would appear from time to time on cable if you really wanted to record it to VHS for posterity back in the mid to late 1980s, ^_~

You have over-corrected for the aspect ratio, sir.

Anyway, I bet two guys were like "hey this would be money" and "yeah let's do it, somebody made a doujin anyway." (I'm sure.) Licensing doesn't seem to be quite as perilous in Japan as the U.S.

My local arcade has this. It controls and looks like shit. Seriously, it's sitting beside SF4 and BlazBlue, and now that KOFXII is out, it's just wasting the LCD which could be used on it. I'm pretty sure that this game was designed for non-widescreen displays, because everything looks terribly stretched. Oh, and it's also running on some sort of custom Wii hardware.

I'm surprised that it ended up getting a US release, what with all the licenses and stuff.

And 480p max as well. Doesn't stop everyone from putting it on a 1080p cab and making it look worse than it is.

Most of the impressions I'd heard of the game were pretty positive...maybe the lack of fighters on the Wii skewed people's judgment somewhat? Anyways, guess we'll get to see for ourselves, assuming that the localization isn't botched.

I recently bought the game on Wii and think it is great so far and it looks excellent on my 42 inch Plasma.

awesome! this was actually on my list of things to buy, think I might as well hold off for the US/PAL version of the game. :)

it's a versus title... it you enjoyed any of the others or don't take every fighter to the extreme seriousness then you might like it. it's 3D like SF4 so unless you're one of the "it must be 2D or die" kind you might enjoy it also.

I picked it up, liked it alot and think the visuals were fine. It's most definitely meant for wide screen. Don't expect the second coming visuals wise, but it looks fairly nice.

It's not something to play if you are one of those who only play a tourney fighter. It's got some broke stuff in it but so do alot of others , especially MvC2 ect.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I picked up Capcom's Fate/Unlimited Codes for the PS2. Played it in the arcade in Nakano too. It's a 3 button fighter (Well, 3 + a reversal/guard button) and it plays well.

I think I'd be happier with Namco X Capcom being released domestically. Licensing is what prevents Super Robot Taisen games from being released outside of Japan unfortunately. In the case of Tatsunoko, at least it is just one company that has sold their rights to various American companies. I would have Spec's reaction if they ever ported the SRT games.

Most people who say this haven't actually played Namco x Capcom. It's actually a pretty poor game and extremely overrated. I think it was the first major cross-over game. I'm looking forward to Cross Edge, which is NIS/Capcom/RED/Idea Factory, but since it's Idea Factory I'm not hoping for an amazing release. Games like Chaos Wars and Spectral Force 3 are extremely mediocre, and hit or miss with most people.

I'll still buy it just because I can use Morrigan and Etna, though.

Problem solved.

Also for those still complaining about 480p resolution despite being widescreen.

Anyways, from what I've heard, expect possible added rooster, online play:
Nintendo Power wrote:"The fans and marketing/sales teams outside of Japan showed a great interest in [Tatsunoko vs. Capcom] and contacted us to find out more about the game," relates producer Ryota Niitsuma. "Such an enthusiastic reaction convinced us that the game could succeed even overseas as a new [entry in the] Vs. series. We listened to feedback from our fans and marketing/sales teams in other territories in order to implement new features to the game this time around. I am very happy to announce that this title is coming to North America for those fans who have long waited for this to be made... and were disappointed last time by its unavailability overseas."

That Fighting Stick sucks. Does anyone know if the PS2-GC converters are lag-free? Is there any way to test?

this game is like street fighter 4.... the aspect ratio just changes the field of view.

the game in 4x3 just opens up the bottom and top to make it fill the screen, it was made in a 16x9 ration, just like SF4.

For Ganelon,

Are you refering to the Hori Wii Fighting Stick that was released in the USA with a retail price tag of $39.99 USD?

You could always use a Hori GCN Fighting Stick setup since it directly plugs into the top of the Wii via GCN controller port. Shouldn't be any lag going that particular route. Plus it can be further modded with Sanwa/Seimitsu parts if you want. ^_~

Yeah, but why bother modding when I already have PS2 sticks and the converter is just $15.

There's always the possibility of Capcom releasing a stick here in the states. Granted, SFIV is a monstrous property earning the right to have its own stick, the Wii has relatively little in regards to something decent to play TvC on.

The game is starting to pick up somewhat in the fighting scene too. I would'nt be surprised if Seth Killian pulled something out of his sleeve.

I have one of those converters and it seems to work just fine (I don't actually use it), but if somebody can tell me a good way to test it I'll give it the proper rundown.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

5 new characters? At this rate they might as well make a US version of MUGEN while they're at it. Haha. These crossover games just ain't what they used to be.

The Hori Wii stick isn't too great either, but it's still better than X-Arcade. Your best options would be to get a Hori Real Arcade Pro for PS2 and a GC adapter or maybe wait for a new Wii stick. Mad Catz is making amazing SFIV and MvC2 sticks for 360 and PS3, so maybe they will release a TvC stick.
