Ok

So I met up with a friend who celebrated his 25th birthday couple of weeks ago by going to Amsterdamn with friends ( I was invited but didnt go too much on

) he proceeds to tell me how much of a blast it was.

He smoked so much and was high for the 3 days he spent there....he visited the red light district and had sex with 3 different women, they were "absolutely beautiful" he said better looking than "Heidi Klum"

Now that is something that I dont understand, what would make a person go out and PAY to have sex with a prostitute? am I the only one who thinks its kinda seedy and maybe desperate?, I joked with him about it and his response was well we all pay for sex one way or another even married guys......erm lol?

so what do you guys think....am I a weirdo for thinking like this?

No. Paying for sex is stupid and kind of repulsive IMO. Over here it's illegal as well.

As for the argument that we all pay for sex, even in relationships - I guess it differs from person to person. I would never allow my girlfriend to "reward" me with sex, it would just feel wrong.

In the Netherlands and here in Germany prostitution is legal and regulated, which means that prostitutes are required to meet certain safety standards and get regular testing, etc. in order to keep their license. Prostitution is not not really considered weird or obscene here, but I guess attitudes vary widely between countries.

In my opinion it's way better to make prostitution a legal and regulated industry rather than to keep it in the hands of pimps. Much better for the prostitutes and safer for customers as well.

I don't think paying for sex is stupid and repulsive. Maybe a bit desperate. However, for many dudes who have some defect or are simply too nerdy that is the only way they could ever hope to sleep with a hot woman, so why not? Just make sure your money is being ethically spent, and doesn't go to some illegal ring of Russian sex traffickers.

Personally, I have never paid for sex because it's something I can get for free simply by being friendly, outgoing and well-groomed, and just sex without some emotional component is not interesting to me.

I regularly get a leaflet in my mailbox for the "Pussy Club", they advertize the fact that if you spend the entire night you can get breakfast and a morning paper for free, lol. I guess I know where to go when I'm no longer able to get laid.

If he wants to get high, fine. If he wants to pay for sex, fine as well. He just shouldn't do both at the same time. Miss "prettier than Heidi Klum" could have been an ambulant collection of boils and STDs for all we know, but his judgement was too clouded to make the correct call.

Not that I approve of either for myself, but it's his life.

I can relate to the slight defect thing, its been a part of me since birth. However, I have a girlfriend and although she is perhaps not hot hot, she is definitely far from ugly. My brother has been to the Dam on many occasions and thats all he does, smokes lots of weed, wastes all his money and says he had a great time, of which he can't remember hardly any of it.

It's so odd how people go to Amsterdam to do that shit, because you can do it all here, so why add in the cost of a plane ticket and hotels

Drugs can be fun but I wouldn't pay for sex. It's easy enough to get laid. If you wanna sleep with a girl who's supermodel hot but are only an average dude I guess that might be your only option. Personally I prefer having a girlfriend to casual sex

Drugs or paying for sex aren't my thing, but they are both available everywhere and have been doing massive business for all of recorded history, so there is clearly an audience for it.

Also, whenever they bust one of those "high class" escort rings they always find all kinds of rich or otherwise socially well-regarded people on the lists of customers, so the appeal is something other than desperation. People like it, for whatever reason.

Exactly my thoughts but then again, I'm from Switzerland & we handle these things exactly the same as in Germany, that's why I think different countries' mentality greatly affects one's opinions about this topic. Not that much to do with morality as one might think...

I agree with you partly on that. The goverment would be able to control it better if it was legal, but then again. That would be the same thing as giving in to a business which I believe most of us can agree is exploiting as well as being downright harmful to young women.

Speaking to you as someone who looks like crap and behave like a nerdy 10 year old - there is a woman out there for everyone. As for the last part, I think it's near impossible for an average person to tell whether it's a happy prostitute or someone being used.

Everyone needs to let of some steam at some time.
And if for whatever reason they can't get "it" for free, I'd rather give them the option to pay for it than have them go mad.

Also, I seriously don't see why a woman can't exploit the assets she has.
If she consciously agrees being paid to have sexual intercourse, more power to her.
Only problem is that there are indeed lot's of criminal organizations profiting on women who are desperate.

To the Amsterdam prostitutes' defence and in all fairness.
Way back there were alot of ugly women there.
Now sometimes I have drink with some friends and we walk by and we all agree: DAMN, suddenly these women are really fine! Like topmodels/bikini models etc. amazing.
It's desgusting, but they make it as tempting as can be.

I don't agree with you on that, the reason prostitution was legalized in Germany is precisely so that it is no longer exploitative and harmful to women. The idea was to a) get rid of pimps and enable prostitutes to own their own business, and b) to give prostitutes access to health care and legal recourse, something they would not have if their job was illegal.
It's also wrong to assume that people become prostitutes as a kind of last resort or out of desperation. I think most legal prostitutes want to do the job they do because they like it.

Sure there's a woman out there for everyone, but is it somebody hot?

As for happy vs. exploited prostitutes, in Germany there are special monitored areas reserved for legal prostitution, that include brothels and designated streets where it is considered safe to buy sex. Anything outside these areas is more questionable. Plus there are websites and magazines with reviews and stuff, so I believe you can make an informed decision, if you are so inclined.
