I Have Broken a ARCADIA/Gamest Record!

Post by Smraedis »

Yes indeed, and on Point Blank 1 (GunBullet)

On that records site, the record was said to be 215,068. And I have just got 215,739!

Image

I was planning to make a high scoring run to put on YouTube, and then I noticed that my score was really good.. (212k), so I rushed to see what the highest score ever recorded is, and after seeing that it was only a little more, I knew that I could beat it eventually... I can't believe that that was the highest score ever achieved on defaults.

I'll be putting the replay up on Youtube tomorrow.

Edit - Here is the video.

Great, are you certain their version is exactly the same though? Probably a good idea just to make sure by playing the JP version if you aren't. And does the course matter?

Good job! :D Isn't this like landmark? First Western WR holder or something? Or did Necronopticous beat the Strikers '99 WR?

The video is being uploaded just now, it should be on in a few hours.

I started playing the game on April 25, and most days after that. I spent most of the time learning all the stages, and then spent a lot of the weekend trying to beat the record.
I've played the game lots in the past, stopping around 10 years ago.

Ganelon wrote:Great, are you certain their version is exactly the same though? Probably a good idea just to make sure by playing the JP version if you aren't. And does the course matter?
I do have both versions of the game, I am having a few controller problems on the Japanese version, with my current TV. The game is exactly the same, apart from the text, and one piece of the BGM is different. Beginner is the "Easy" course.

I remember hearing someone beating the record of some obscure game, but I never heard much of it.

Twiddle wrote:awaiting oxtsu/plasmo post pulling up a new arcadia record 300 points above smraedis' record
I'm expecting that too :D But I wouldn't mind, I feel like I could score more too..

I dropped a few points throughout the run, but I scored quite a lot higher than normal on the same stages. I can't really complain about getting such a good score!

Not even close. I think I'm the first white guy to get the 2-ALL, but I don't have what it takes to play a perfect game--which is what is essentially required to top the WR.

Great work Smraedis.

There's no way to actually get you listed in Arcadia I take it

BBH has the Shock Troopers one I think, and a number of western players have records and counterstops for many games.

I doubt it. Arcadia only list scores for arcade versions, and I'm assuming that Smraedis did his score on the port version.
Great achievement regardless.

I don't mind not being put in the magazine, all I'm happy about, is that I beat their record and that I can actually show it too.

and I'm sure I could also beat it on a pcb too, the port is exactly the same anyway.
