I'm in the mood for a fantasy-themed RPG, what do you guys suggest? Either for PC or PS2.
For reference, some games I liked a lot:
- Diablo I & II
- Dungeon Siege II
- Baldur's Gate I & II
- Neverwinter Nights
I was thinking of playing Baldur's Gate again or trying out Neverwinter Nights 2, but I'd like to know if I'm missing any other good RPGs out there.

Planescape: Torment is one of the best games ever in the genre. Looks and plays a lot like Baldurs gate, but with a lot less focus on the fighting parts. Actually you only have to fight three times during the whole game. So, if you don't mind a couple of thousand pages of text, you're gonna love it.

Torment, definitely. One of the best RPGs ever created, better than BG in my opinion. Icewind is fun, but not really worth your time unless you just want a bunch of battles.
For PS2, I think Gladius is a pretty nifty SRPG that no one ever talks about. The plotline is not too fantastic, but the battles sure are fun. If you like Diablo I would also highly recommend Record of Lodoss War for DC, and its pseudo-sequel, Shining Force for PS2 (which, although not a real Shining Force game, is still pretty damned entertaining).

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.

Demon's Souls is one game I'm really looking forward to play but buying a PS3 now is out of question. They should've released this one for PC, seriouslyrobthebanks wrote:Buy a PS3 and get Demon's Souls. It lives up to the hype.

Gladius is more of a tactics game but looks interesting...I'll check it out later.

Have you played Wizardry 8 for the PC? It's more of a first person game compared to the Baldur's gate games. But other than some combat's taking a long time for everything to move, it's a very well oiled game system. (And you can find a 'fix' online to speed up combat moves if you wish.) It's an older game now, so you will probably have to hunt a copy down on ebay or somewhere though.
Wizardry:Tales of the Forsaken Land (PS2) is the only other 'western'(ish) game that comes to mind at point. Although despite the 'Wizardry' in the name, the two series have very little to do with each other. W:TOFL has more in common with the early (PC) Wizardry titles in the game mechanics and nothing at all in regards to the story or shared game world. And it definately feels 'old school'. There are almost none of the standard JRPG-isms to be found here. Just a minor warning though, this game is an older 'Blue CD' disc, so like Gradius V it can give some PS2's disc read problems. (I really, really wish the sequel to the game had gotten a western release as well...but oh well.)
I can't help but think you have already played or know about any other RPG games for the PC/PS2 that I know of. About the only other game I might recommend is the Disgaea series of games. And those are more tactical-strategy games. Plus they are definately 'grind heavy' if you want to get the most out of them instead of just rushing through the story.
