Who here liked Star Wars: Battlegrounds?

Me, personally, I loved it. Even though I'm having trouble with the Genosis (SIC). But I still love this game. CAN I GET AMEN?

S'dope. The controls are little wonky, but rushing a fortified point with about 15 guys giving you back up and a bunch of vehicles is some cool shit.

I like it online, but the single-player got tired real fast. Sequel is looking good.

You mean SW: Battlefront? My fave next gen SW game by far. I loved it both playing with a friend and playing online. Storming a vast battlefield full of clones and droids or rebels and stormtroopers is great and exhilirating. The control was mostly tight and nicely varied. My favorites to take were the Jetpack clone, Wookie or Droideka (I loved rolling into a ball then rushing a crowd of clones and unfolding with my shields and blasters going gonzo). I also love how you can hijack everything from small speeders to any of the enormous walkers, it makes it two games in one almost.

The battlefields were very nicely done if drab in a few spots but tons of variety with full city areas, bridges, lakes, just huge little contained worlds. My faves were the snow temple level (? was in the republic vs. separatist mode), Hoth and Kashyyk.

Don't own it yet though as much as I've played it, when I get a U.S. PS2 I will definitely check out the sequel which has space battles. *drool*

If you're talking about Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, then you get a hearty AMEN. My wife and I play that constantly. We love to team up and play multiple computer opponents. We haven't really played online much because I have a firewall that kinda makes that difficult, though I found a helper program that is supposed to do some forwarding for that. In any event, one of my fav PC games ever.

If you are talking about Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds then you get my hearty amen taken right back.

Ugh. It's a reskinned C&C.

and by C&C you mean Age of Empires II: Age of Kings, right? Because it used the same engine and played pretty much the same... it really had very little in common with any of the Command & Conquer games except Renegade, and that's only because both Renegade and Galactic Battlegrounds were disappointing pieces of poo poo beans. Loved Age of Empires I and II and I can't wait for III, however.

The new Star Wars Empire at War RTS by Petroglyph looks amazing, though. Petroglyph was founded by former Westwood members after Westwood got bought out by EA (and after a lot of the guys got "downsized"), and all of the initial impressions from E3 indicate that it'll be awesome.

On the topic of Battlefront, I was really disappointed. The game balance was never really there and instead of fixing up the problems with the game they decided to just start work in a sequel. Shady stuff...something you'd typically expect from an EA-owned company, not from Pandemic (Dark Reign 2, Battlezone II, Army Men RTS, Mercenaries, Full Spectrum Warrior, etc). Easilly their worst game so far...nearly everything else they've done has been absolute quality :\
