Part of my shmups forum experience has been finding which very experienced posters most closely match my favorite shmups, and the trifecta are Twiddle (post2), Rob and Icarus. I figured combining their votes would give me a good list to feed on for years to come.

95% of all ketsui talk has been in one single thread in the chat section. i'm sorry this has annoyed you since you registered all of 4 days ago. of course i am joking, you're someone's joke account.

Three things I thought I'd never see on Rob's list: Gunbird, Strikers 1945, and Sengoku Ace. I know Rob finally came to like the latter, but I also know this much: in the past he was clear he didn't like the specials in Strikers I, and he didn't see much merit in Gunbird generally. So either he is making a joke in adding them or...

I threw some variety out of the window on the last edit since it's more about the combined lists than individual lists and I like boring old Psikyo a lot. Sengoku Ace is easily my favorite of the early games. Things I like about Gunbird: darker than GB2 with some memorable stages (castle/drawbridge), catchiest Psikyo soundtrack. I even like Sol Divide, but not quite for top 25.

Oh my, I've already made the Ketsui people angry. My beginnings on this forum are not looking good. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you? I can bake some delicious cookies for you!jpj wrote:95% of all ketsui talk has been in one single thread in the chat section. i'm sorry this has annoyed you since you registered all of 4 days ago. of course i am joking, you're someone's joke account.

Also this isn't someones joke account, I just personally think that if a game is good enough it'll place in the rankings without a thread dedicated to pumping it up. Just my own opinion!

i thought we were the ones making you angry..? i barely pay any attention to 90% of the threads on here. the key is not clicking on themShumps4Free wrote:Oh my, I've already made the Ketsui people angry

and ketsui has only ever twice made it onto the honourable mentions list (#26-50?), and never once onto the top 25. you may not know this because you are brand new to the forum. and i think the thread did make a difference, it didn't break any rules, and incognescente recognized and linked the 'campaign' in the opening post of this thread.

It never made me angry, and the "thank god" post that I made originally was a joke post, as well as the post where I said I made Ketsui people angry.jpj wrote:i thought we were the ones making you angry..? i barely pay any attention to 90% of the threads on here. the key is not clicking on themShumps4Free wrote:Oh my, I've already made the Ketsui people angry

Maybe I got the wrong impression, but from the brief time I've been on these forums it seemed like things were pretty lighthearted around here, and jokes like those would just be glanced over at best. I didn't know people would take it seriously. I guess it's because my low post count or something, but I assure you that your thread didn't bother me at all. I still believe that a good game will make the top list without a thread drawing attention to it, but that's just me.
I'm aware that incognescente linked your thread, and that it isn't breaking any rules, and I never claimed otherwise. Like I said, I guess I just got the wrong impression.
My apologies, I hope we can move on.

you may not have seen it as it was a month ago, but the idea sprung up from this thread where ketsui was likened to a 'sacred cow', and people who own it are elitist and 'high brow'. so that's where the name and sig came from, as well as the top hat avatars. just a bit of fun. initially i only wanted to start a team for myself and two or three of the guys from ArcadeOtaku, and it just kinda snow-balled from there. i was saying to chi_ryu that it was a shame that thread got locked, so i started another one from the opposite perspective (that ketsui is a solid game, and perhaps under represented), thinking that at the very least we could have another flame-fest (

I still laugh at some people from the original thread judging it from Ketsui Death Label (or, worse still, from hearsay). And I do seriously rate Ketsui in my top 5 shooters.
