Gorillaz Demon Days
Gorillaz Demon Days
I didn't like Gorillaz before, but after buying their new CD...
hot damn, everyone just stop what you're doing and buy Demon Days. I can listen to it forever.

Interestingly enough, I think Demon Days is by far their weakest CD. There are a couple of tracks that I like, but it's not nearly as good as the other stuff they've done.
I'm particularly fond of their first album, as I think almost every song on that one is incredible... but this new one just doesn't work for me.

You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.
I'm with benstylus here, the first album was my favorite. From Demon Days I like Feel Good Inc, White Light and Fire Coming Out Of A Monkey's Head, but the rest of em just don't grab me like Starshine, Latin Simone and Dracula did. I really wish I liked Demon Days more.
Ghost Train was awesome too, but I think it was from G-Sides.

I don't actually like any of their stuff except for the singles - it's pretty much all over the place.
My latest CD purchase was "Repulsion Box" by Sons and Daughters. This is a must if you like any of New Model Army, Nick Cave, or PJ Harvey.

As blood flowers said, their music is really all over the place...LoneSage wrote:How was their first album? Only song I remember from it is Clint Eastwood, and after hearing it a thousand times, I hated it.
How similar is its genre to Demon Days, which feels kinda techno-y at times.
Their first album is really experimental, covering and mixing all sorts of genres. Almost every song has a distinct feel which is why I liked the CD in the first place.
I think the biggest problem I have with Demon Days is most of the songs sound really similar to each other.

Ahhh a fine Scottish band. I've been listening to Belle & Sebastion, Teenage Fanclub & The BMX Bandits all day so i'm in a bit of a Scots indie trip at the moment.bloodflowers wrote:

I haven't heard the album, but DM's ghetto pop life was brilliantWanderer wrote:The first album was great because the soundscape (grooves, beats, scratches, basslines, samples, etc.) was provided by the Automator and Kid Koala.
Damon Albarn wanted to go a different direction for the new album, ditched the Automator, and recruited DJ Danger Mouse.
Bad Move IMHO.
Not sure what he's come up with for Gorillaz tho cause people are saying it's quite strange (and not in a good way)
At least Del is still rapping for them
