Ultimate Shooting Collection: Should I get it?

Post by Shelcoof »

Hey guys

(I tried digging up the old thread about this but couldn't find it)

I saw it at EB earlier during the week when I went to return Heavenly Guardian and then picked up myself a Street Fighter IV Joystick to use on my PC.

The game was 39.99$CAD a bit pricey for me but I'm considering getting it.

I already played two of the three games available on it and I have to say I do not like Chaos Field at all, I just find the game boring.

Radio Allergy on the other hand is a game I've been wanting to add into my collection for the longest time now. There's something about it that's very nostalgic, brings me back to the good old retro days. I'd like an Original copy to add to my Dreamcast collection but those are pretty pricey as well. So the compilation for the Wii will have to do.

I've never played Kurous but I do like the art style but I'm not sure if it's any good.

I dunno what you guys think, worth picking up or pass? Or wait till it hits the bargian bin lol I'm sure it'll eventually move to that section sooner or later, a lot of Wii games have been moving into that section lately.

So far the deciding factor is price and if Kurous is any good to justify the buy.

btw: anyone know the control scheme for the game? Classic controller an option?

I'd recommend using either a Hori GCN joystick or the Hori Wii Fighting Stick for proper arcade stick controls with your newly purchased copy of Ultimate Shooting Collection, Shelcoof. Would indeed, be better than using a Classic Controller setup (assuming if you can find one or get ahold of one). I tried playing the USA region Castle of Shikigami III for the Wii with the plain-vanilla Wii remote controller and it ain't no fun but if that's all you got, it's alright for the time being. ^_~

The first thing I'd have to say about Milestone's collection is that they're all scoring intensive. You'll only get the most value out of it if you play the games for score, in my experiences, anyway. It's generally more fun and rewarding in comparison to just trying to survive (Especially in the case of Karous, which is a general cakewalk to survive in).
Milestone shooters are the sort of games that wants the player to use every weapon they are given or option they are given (Best example being the rechargeable bombs), and when you do, they're very fun.

PC Engine Fan X!:

I'd love to pick up a joystick for the Wii but I can't seem to justify spending 100$ (on ebay considering you can't find them anymore) on it for just maybe two or three games (TvC, GG XX AC Plus and Ultimate Shooter Collection, and I have GG XX AC Plus on the PS2 already too).

360 Street Fighter IV joystick works on both the 360 and PC so I can get a lot of play time with it, worth the 100$ I paid for it at EB :)

SockPuppetHyren:

I've never really been about score, I've always played for survival lol. I'm just not good enough to focus on score without dying. But I still find Radio Allergy to be fun and challenging enough experience to warrant a buy.

I'm really leaning towards a purchase...... I'll probably go pick it up this weekend if I have time lol.

Thanks for the reply guys really helped me out ^_^.[/b]

I've already played Chaos Field to death on the Gamecube version (which is the superior port IMO), but I've been really enjoying Radio Allergy and Karous lately, each for different reasons. They each have excellent ports on this, and playing them with the Classic controller is great fun. Karous is a friendly pick-up-and-play game because its scoring system is very straightforward and addictive. Don't expect a really difficult game from it though. Radio Allergy is much deeper because scoring well in it makes the game considerably more difficult.

I would reconsider that. I don't shop at Gamestop/EB personally, but I've heard people say it's only $15 (USD) there now. Get it from Amazon.com ($20-ish USD currently) if you can't find it for that price in Canada. This is where I got my copy originally.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

I can confirm that - saw a copy for 15 bucks at a GS earlier today.

Wow guys thanks.

I want the game but I don't want to drop more than 40$$ for it, seeing how I know I would only really like Radio Allergy, I dont like Chaos Field but Karous is an unkown but it looks like fun.

15$ for the game seems like a really good deal. Over here it would probably be 18.99$ bargain bin if it has already dropped down to 15$ over there.

I went searching around looking for it today at other places, but no luck. I might as well pick up Raiden Fighters Aces if I see that during my search for the game.

Well I picked it up today and I spent only 30$ plus tax on it. I also picked up Raiden Fighters Aces too for 20$!!!

Great day and I'm loving Karous, it's very easy to get into and just plain fun. I love the graphics and music is pretty nice too.

I compared Radio Allergy with the Dreamcast version and the Wii version is a lot smoother with the graphics, easier on the eyes.

I'm glad I picked it up, thanks for the recommendation!
