Once the game begins it is fine, the game screen is centered, but if I pause and get the 360 menu, it is also displaced. I swith to a non widescreen resolution 1024x768 and the problems were gone. I guess if I use component and stays at 720p they will be gone too (will test it tomorrow) but I would like to use my TV native resolution.
Also, the screen size is way big at 100%, cutting the top and botton of the game screen. I have to set it to 92% at 1360x768 resolution.
depends on what kind of monitor/tv you have, you should be able to config your resolution in both your display device or xbox dashboard.
when I first play SF4, part of the right screen was cutted off(since I was running 1920 on my monitor with the setting "wide screen"). I then have change the setting back to "just fit" for it to work.

Nah, that is not the case. The TV and 360 are properly configured to 1360x768. The game itself has a bug. Not all the screen is cut/displaced. Only the menus overlays. The background is fine, the actual game is fine. The title screen is even strange: the background is fine but the overlay that have the effects is displaced to the left, thus affectting only one part of the screen and the right side remains without the effect.
received it today and played for a couple hours.
the scoring system seems so simple but at the same time hard to pull off.. It seems like lock shot decreases the item number in the corner no matter what? whenever I use it the numbers go down until i let go. For a while I thought I was triggering fever mode but I think it must have only been the power up mode at 1000...
what causes your "value" to go up, only when the item number is at 1000? Does value ever go down the way the number at the bottom of the screen goes down?
here's some info on the VGA problem from earlier in the thread:

That would be me who ran into the background left associating issue when running the game through VGA. Since the playfield is still centered correctly, simply adjust the zoom on the X and Y and then stretch the X until it's at about 120. I'm running my console on my HDTV set at 1360x768.
Thanks for the info Kiken. I haven't gone back to vga to try this yet.
got the 1cc on arcade mode the other day, not managed 360 mode as i struggle on the faster bullet patterns on the bosses. enjoying 1.1 mode too but still miles away from the second extend.

Thanks for the info, I also did that: Y is now 92% and I scretched the X up to 140% (a little more widescreen).
I hope the upcoming patch also corrects this. I do not want to switch to component and although the gameplay screen is centered it is a little bit disappointing to show the game to friends with this bug.
Cool stuff. I have a friend in Japan that just drops me random messages. I got into work this morning and had an email with something like, "That shooter game you like is getting DLC next week..."
I'm still having a lot of trouble with this recharge trick. I'm playing most of the stages on Rank 2, could that be why?
My usual order is C1(2)-C2(2)-B1(2)-A2(3)-A1(3)-B2(2)-Castle. I know of the good milking opportunities in the volcano and graveyard but I don't entirely have the rest of the stage down. Any tips?
Wrt the MBL DLC, I'd much sooner they held off releasing it until the patch is out. Releasing the two things the other way around seems really perverse. Scores not saving properly is starting to get on my nerves a little, now that I'm getting a proper undertanding of how the lower-level gameplay mechanics work and having the expansion come out before the fix means that it's going to suffer from the exact same problem, at least in the short term.
Lack of replays for MBL = an inevitable effect of it coming as a download, rather than being on the disc from the start?

I had the same thought. If it was my game company we'd finish the damn patch before the DLC came out. It's just sloppy workmanship. Maybe they want to hold off and see what they'll have to patch in MLB, then just do one big patch later on that fixes both versions. Kind of a mess.
The patch is done guys. It's been done for about a week. It just takes 3-4 weeks for MS to approve it and put it up. They tested the patch with MBL to ensure there are no further glitches, and MBL will work fine on its own without the patch, so they've decided to release it early to the fans.
It's easy to save your scores if you follow the simple procedure I've described in this thread and elsewhere. So I don't see why people are still complaining about that.
I think I need to buy a few of you guys a "Jump to conclusions" mat.

Because quite frankly people should be able to use the system normally and it work properly, that is one of the advantages of consoles. A game should save properly despite the order in which you access menus.
However this isn't the first game to botch saves, games like DOA4 and COD2 has save issues when they launched, those pissed me off. Losing saved missions or costumes equates to a waste of time.
At least with highscores you can always set another one

True. Thankfully there is a way to save the scores until the patch comes, even if it isn't a very intuitive way.

I have to give it up to the flexibility of this game. I got the 1CC on Arcade Mode last night, and, feeling a bit proud, started over again and tried an all rank 3 run. I managed to stay alive until the EX stage just through the grace of all the life-ups you get when playing on rank 3, but was quickly slaughtered in the Canyon. Anyone that can clear that in death mode has my admiration. It is currently just way outside my skill level. The genius of this game is putting such stages within the reach of a non-master. In most cave shmups I'd have to get to the second loop to see the real ferocity of the final stages, but DS opens the door and says, "Sure, come on in..."
Got my copy of this the other day - a nice package, enjoying it so far. Going to have to delve through the ST thread/s to figure out what the heck I'm doing though...

All Rank 3 + Canyon quickly puts this somewhere in the middle of the Cave games in terms of difficulty.
Are you talking about the meter on the bottom left hand of the screen?
It takes impeccable timing. Follett can do it in a few places (namely on the one-eyed flying things) w/o bombs. The other characters pretty much need a bomb. The trick is, while powered up (w/ a counter of 10,000) killing a lot of enemies that spit out loads of orange crowns. This has to be done just as your timer is hitting zero. Sometimes you have to use a bomb and hold down A+B to get the timer to go down faster.
