Hello. new member, sad ps3 owner :)

Post by 2dvertical »

Ok. So im freakin hooked on shmups now. Ive been browsing this site for some time. So whats next for me? I got every us release on ps2 and I have a 60gb us ps3 so all those play. Psn is pissing me off with these arena style shumps (some r ok) but imo not "true" shmups. I downloaded soldner-x which is better than nothing. I have been reverting to some of the ps1 shmups I never had. I have a wii but the retro shmups dont do it for me really (got ikaruga, chaos field GC and castle III). Basically I have no cave shmups which looks like my cup of tea for sure. So I thought ok, ill mod my ps2 , swap majic, by now it should be easy right? Then I saw the price of the cave games on ebay  Xbox is paving the way for shmups and this boggles my mind. Pheww. Ok, thats a long ass intro.

Play-asia still has Dodonpachi:DOJ and Espgaluda. They're generally thought to be the better ps2 Cave ports. Get one of those.

If you're not ethically opposed to it, MAME is a good way to play lots of shmups (as well as a good many Cave games) for free.

That said, I still suggest getting Dodonpachi Daioujou or ESPGaluda, as both are extraordinary games and worth the price of importing them imo.

swap magic lets you play burned games as well as imports.

you can always just play burned copies of the OOP cave games (mushi/ibara) until you come across affordable copies of them. it's not like buying them off ebay will be putting any money in cave's pockets.

Hooray for software piracy!
But yeah, "my friend" said that Cave shmup torrents for PS2 were pretty damn hard to find in the first place...but yeah swap magic will do the trick there. If you can get hold of a legit copy from play-asia then that's the route to go. Just eat ramen for a couple weeks. :D

Thanks for the mame info. I got some of the good ones but is there a working file for Radiant Silvergun? I tried multiple sites and get the same error of a missing file. Also, I know its wishful thinking, but are there any places to get all the mame roms in one download? anywhere? :D

Radiant Silvergun won't run in mame, but the Saturn Emulation is pretty far right now.

Don't ask for roms or where to download them. Forum Rules.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Actually, it will, just slowly.
Infact, the whole game works .
Try MAME .128, because .129 and up will run it EXTREMELY slowly.

Also, as for the all MAME roms d/l, if you can't find it, you never will.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
