"Slight"? The game plays quite differently I'd say. It's very much an arrange mode. There's more scoring than MBL even (top score is 10 bil already, and there's no Temple stage). The whole power up at 100 makes it easier to get up to 1000 if you miss a recharge. The overall counter continuously depleting outside of Power up mode, and that fucking 1-bomb only thing. Heaps of fun, too!1.1 mode: Enhanced graphics like the X360 mode. Slight change in play mechanics like using the right stick to controll you options, etc.

I ran into a rather odd glitch last night while playing... I had started out playing the game on one of my SD CRTs throguh S-Vid but later switched to my HD TV through VGA. After the switch, the game's main menu and wallpaper were shifted about a third of the screen to the left, leaving a black space on the right of the screen. The loading messages were all bordering the left edge of the screen. The actual playfield though was centered correctly.
I tried to do the tutorial counter glitch but couldn't get it to work (I might have been interupting it at the wrong time). Also.. has anyone tried the Volcano stage boss upper-left corner glitch (after the boss's first attack wave, it shoots out a series of flame columns which you normally need to shoot to prevent from hitting the top of the screen... but if you simply sit in the upper left corner of the screen and do nothing, the attack goes right through you)?

Otoh, you should probably count yourself lucky that they didn't charge you after claiming to have shipped it, without you actually receiving anything from them.bucklemyshoe wrote:In short Play-Asia > Yesasia

Hmm, I don't really like Casper all that much. I really want to use Windia, but Hou (her option) is pretty weak. Doesn't help that the one replay of her in the Top 20 isn't available for download.

i bought it "used" a year ago..i registered the console today for repair and my warannty was expired but i had the 3 rrod so its covered. I talked to xbox and specifically said it was a JPN console and would like a JPN console when i get one sent back to me.Shelcoof wrote:Seriously? How long have you had the 360 for?PsikyoPshumpPshooterP wrote:yeah so my jap 360 rrods while DS is in transits..what fucken bullshit
Thats what scares me about 360 consoles is that you spend a fortune to import it over then have it die on you.
The cave whore count in this thread is unbelievable!!!
I wrote this up today:seiatsu wrote:I thought mine would have arrived yesterday but, still waiting. Hopefully today.
In the meantime, let me see if I got this straight:
Arcade mode: This is a straight port. No differences.
X360 mode: Is this just arcade mode with enhanced graphics (and some minor differences in slowdown)? Any change to game mechanics?
1.1 mode: Enhanced graphics like the X360 mode. Slight change in play mechanics like using the right stick to controll you options, etc.
Can someone clarify this? (I've gotten it all mixed up over time)
A brief analysis of the Deathsmiles port accuracy
JP units are covered internationally? If so maybe I'll feel more at ease knowing that it would be okay to pick up an imported unit.PsikyoPshumpPshooterP wrote: i bought it "used" a year ago..i registered the console today for repair and my warannty was expired but i had the 3 rrod so its covered. this is covered in the Guide to Owning a J360 in the hardware section (sticky'd).Shelcoof wrote:JP units are covered internationally? Due to the high accuracy of the port, unless 1)You have a lot of money and can easily spend 10x the price of the port or 2)you absolutely require 240p graphics on a 15khz RGB monitor, the port is more than enough. I've owned the PCB in the past and played it for dozens of hours, and this port so good that I will not buy the PCB again.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Fascinating comparisions between the PCB and 360 versions of Death Smiles, EOJ. What would you recommend, either the PCB or the 360 port of DS?

I haven't played DS but three times since it came in last friday, i'm still on Mushi PS2 at the moment. Only reason I got DS was because it is a current Cave game ported to a console. I enjoy it when I take the time to play, however I don't feel compelled to turn it on.
With that said, Cave thanks for the port!

Of course the stuff added to the port also makes it quite exceptional:
-great training mode (full customizable)
-great arrange mode (ver 1.1)
-online leaderboards
-pretty fun online coop mode
-great screen adjustment options (H/V position, overscan (zoom), brightness, etc)
One thing strangely absent is a gallery mode.
And we still have the DSMBL DLC to look forward to in about a month.

I didn't know PCB's from 2007 were this cheap alreadyCourse since there is a MBL out, the first release could have hit Ibara prices.

yeah i don't think the 360 was designed for cab use, that could lead to the premature death of a premature death.jonny5 wrote:

Glad this game looks good on HDTV's as its designed for(360 mode and 1.1 of course).
Now if only i could get a decent stick for the 360 I would be in business. I'm not trying to mod my hori, and it seems hard to find a good custom stick shop:(
