Just one-lifed Gradius using savestates. The game should be pretty easy to one-life for reals
It was a nice experience, none of the frustration/constant repetition of shmups that are actually hard. None of the reward either, though. But I understand the PC Engine crowd a little better now. I'll keep my comments about boring PCE shooters to myself from now on. Only took a half hour too, none of the weeks and months of playing one single game.
It seems to go on to a second loop after the credits but I haven't tried that yet. There's already so much slowdown and flickering that I don't see how they could add any more bullets
Need to try Gradius II and Rabio Lepus Special on CD. I didn't like Sonic Wings that much but from what I've played of Rabio Lepus in mame it's pretty fun. I remember I cleared Daisenpuu back in the day and got like 40 minutes into 1943 Kai before giving up, getting a high score in that is more of an endurance test than one of skill
PC Engine fun-stravaganza

If you want an easy shooter to 1CC on the PC-Engine, try 'Cyber Core'.
It's so easy it hurts but I still like it, especially the cyber-insect setting.

More than one passcode can be entered and yes, the CPU will remember exactly what codes are entered before hitting the "Run" button to begin a session of Cyber Core. ^_~ZOM wrote:If you want an easy shooter to 1CC on the PC-Engine, try 'Cyber Core'.

Rabio Lepus Special is HuCard-only I'm afraid.
For a nice arcade port on CD check out Super Raiden. It lags behind Raiden Project in every way, except for the soundtrack, which has the most amazing shmuptunes you will ever hear!
Also, it has two extra stages, which is a pretty cool addition for Raiden fans.
