Death Smiles: Countdown to North America Invasion
Didn't expect this:

This guy bought basically everything in order to get all the telephone cards and stuff.

proboably wise to just sit on it for a year and watch the cellophane increase in value a hundredfold..
i have a sealed Ibara for the PS2 in a box somewhere.. nothing ive sat on for any specific reason i just bought it at release with 0 interest in playing it (i already had the PCB but back in the days i was hellbent on collecting everything with CAVE printed on it).. was quite surprised to see it skyrocket in that ebay auction..

If you install the Game on your harddisk and then start it up from there, after selecting the Savegame Device the DVD ROM will start spin again.
One reason for me to install the game on hd is to have not the annoing DVD ROM Noise anymore so in this Game It's not possible ?!
something they should fix imo in a following patch
Glad you mentioned that mate as it did it to me, on two machines. Thought i had a dodgy disk

Lovely stick mod there, I had fantasized about doing the exact thing (same buttons, bubble top, color scheme, everything) and was about two clicks away from buying the stick on P-A when the magnitude of paying over 300 dollars for a controller where I'd just rip the buttons out anyway dawned upon me. I do enjoy eating on occasion. Still, it's nice to see it in a photograph. The clear purple buttons don't look as I cool as I imagined they would, though it's still cool as hell.Elixir wrote:Didn't expect this:

And that's a fuckton of Death Smiles stuff.
And since I'm here, I might as well say that my roommate's 360 arrived today and I played this game for the first time like three hours ago and it's fun as hell. Not at all what I was expecting (I was thinking Progear going into it), but it's great. It feels like a homage in some ways to classic horis, especially the "descending cavern of magma and stuff" level with its crazy environmental hazards. It kind of makes me want to break out the old genesis emulator, but eh.

It's just because the outer ring of the buttons is dark, on a dark surface. So what you're looking at is the lavender purple on the button itself and not the ring.
My stuff should come today. Pre-hacked HRAP2 for 360 with Astrocity art. Once I get some stuff from akibashop after they're opened, it should be Seimitsu/Sanwa.
I was thinking of modding my current deathsmiles stick and using it with a 360, but I don't really know how. Perhaps I could take the internals of the HRAP2 which I'm receiving, and put them in it. If the buttons are soldered though, it might be a bit of a problem. We'll see.
That's probably the worst way to go about it; purchase a pre-modded HRAP2 and then use the guts for another stick of your choice.

ya...i realize.....i just think it would look better with different buttonsElixir wrote:It's just because the outer ring of the buttons is dark, on a dark surface. So what you're looking at is the lavender purple on the button itself and not the ring.
i still think it was quite over priced considering it was just a stock HRAP with deathsmiles overlay.....i would have expected it to have a seimitsu stick at least for that price
i much prefer that custom DS stick youve got...that thing is sexy

so you could do what ive done and make a project box from a madcatz arcade stick (the cheap shitty one)

its a really nice PCB to work with and easy to solder as it has little holes you can put the wires through , the hardest thing is cutting the hole in the project box for the DB15 connector , ive mounted 3 buttons on top of my box LT , RT and Guide , ill take some pics tomorrow and show you what i done

Well, I don't know how to solder so I'll wait for my pre-modded HRAP2 to come, open it up, and see if I can use it inside my Death Smiles Agetec.
You could make a tidy income if you sold those pcbs pre-hacked for people to shove into HRAPs. In fact, I'm surprised someone hasn't made a market out of this already.

So that's (the pictured serial#) the common ground version of the Madkatz stick, right? I was considering letting a guy over at Arcadecontrols.com do that hack for me, but as he charges $40 for it (controller not included) I'd better do this myself. I don't even own a 360 yet. But I've faced the facts and it's on my "to buy"-list now. Time to fix myself a JAMMA interface so it's plug & play on arrival.Trevor spencer wrote:so you could do what ive done and make a project box from a madcatz arcade stick (the cheap shitty one)

The top black bottoms are 24φ seimitsu?
And the topball is possible put alone in the stick? the original body stick is apparently different with black colour not silver.

Where are you based Elixir? I can do it for you if you like, it's real easy to be honest.Elixir wrote:Well, I don't know how to solder so I'll wait for my pre-modded HRAP2 to come, open it up, and see if I can use it inside my Death Smiles Agetec.

Shit is ridiculous.
Feedback will set you free.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. We've just ended up spending the past few hours dismantling a HRAP2 with a MadCatz PCB in it, and shoving it into my Death Smiles Agetec. It works pretty well, except for the start button but I'll check that out some other time.Wavey Pavey wrote:Where are you based Elixir? My copy is set to arrive any day now (thought it would arrive on Monday, but I guess not) so at least I'm prepared now.
I thought mine would have arrived yesterday but, still waiting. Hopefully today.
In the meantime, let me see if I got this straight:
Arcade mode: This is a straight port. No differences.
X360 mode: Is this just arcade mode with enhanced graphics (and some minor differences in slowdown)? Any change to game mechanics?
1.1 mode: Enhanced graphics like the X360 mode. Slight change in play mechanics like using the right stick to controll you options, etc.
Can someone clarify this? (I've gotten it all mixed up over time)
Also, curious if the MBL download will support the enhanced graphics or the original graphics or both.
