My "obligation" to Square-Enix wore off pretty quickly when they started putting out a shitty game seemingly every week. There used to be a time when I could buy almost anything with a Squaresoft/Square-Enix logo and be really happy with the purchase, but those guys have taken a total fucking nosedive in the last few years.

I have absolutely ZERO obligation to square enix (ok, that's a lie, but it's significantly smaller than it once was)

If I stumble across a game that says squaresoft, I simply MUST have it. Also, I bought Nocturne, DDS1+2, Devil Summoner and Persona 2, and I've yet to play any of them...just because Persona 3 was good, I pretty much assume the rest will be. To tie it in with the topic closer, I'll probably buy the DS game, even if I don't play it...although I may or may not get Devil Summoner 2.

nihon falcom & FROM SOFTWARE

I have so many Armored core games who still need to be played lying around...

EDIT: I'll add Castlevania to my list, more than qualified for this thread, hell I don't even watch previews or screenies when a new one gets released I'll just buy it.

Or any survival horror game like Silent Hill, Project Zero, Siren etc. Ijust enjoy the genre so much, except Silent Hill Homecoming: I'm still angry at those buffy fucktards who completely ruined the atmosphere and battle system of the game. Those idiots.

The main thing I've gotten from this thread is a feeling of relief that I'm not the only one that feels this way. [/i]

yeah, From are another company i seem to keep buying and like you i have a ton of AC games still not finished.

Good news is that their PS3 actiony rpg Demon Souls is pretty awesome :D (obligatory "wish we could get chromehounds 2" sentiment here)

I am a sucker for SEga, or at least was until recently. Goldenaxe X360 was probably the final straw ... for a while :/

Homeports of arcade games. I have a huge amount of stuff I've barely played that I mean to get around to at some point.

I wanna really play the shit out of 'em too, both loops of Cave games, etc.

Then again I'm starting to think Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Valve FPS are the only games I love enough to put hundreds of hours into. Everything else I seem to just dabble in for awhile and then put away. I've got first loop clears on a couple of other things, but yeah. Except Raiden DX and Mr. Driller, actually. Love those too.

They put stuff out faster than I have time to play them

seconded. any bullet hell game that gets ported to a console i must own, and i must support the company that puts it there. Ibara is the only one that has an inch of dust on it. I just couldn't get into it, maybe if it had been ported better. it's not a bad game, just a crappy port.

I really don't like Battle Garegga all that much, which makes it even more mysterious why I bought Ibara (well, aside from the whole thing this thread is about). Absurdly heavy rank-based games != fun.

Geh, I griped about this already long ago in the Ibara threads...

Anyways, yeah, that's a prime example of a game I felt I should buy that I didn't want all that much for me too.

I used to be extremely bad about buying every good game I knew I'd want to play.

Long story short:
I got a job, filled up my shelves, got older, and ran out of time.

So now I'm selling my barely-played games for often half or less than what I paid for them :P

Now I know what I'll actually get around to playing and what I really won't, so I mostly just don't buy games lately. I have way too many to play, even still.

I'm tired and stuff, I'll maybe write out some specifics in the morning.

Alfa System games. I ended up loving Phantasy Star Portable.

Pretty well any new 2D shooter that isn't a pathetic download.

Digital pinball games.

Strategy RPGs. Any suggestions?

Lol- Mr D- you've been there for a bit :P I've seen your pics of the stash :P

I'd wager most of the people that come to this forum are like this, though. Shmups- I could own 10 of them- and love/play them equally. Rpgs- I probably couldn't manage to do that :P

Also- please tell me I'm not the only one who bought a few of the Raiden Fighters games? I got one on J 360- then pre-ordered the US one- and with each price drop did another. (now up to 3 @ 19.99). Going to give them to friends to help spread the word :)

Prof Ganson: Name some systems for SRPGs (there are surprising numbers of them on the GBA ^_~)

US-released shmups, SRPGs, space RPGs, run'n'guns, Smilebit games (you know bluberry would be disappointed if you didn't ^_~), um...

I probably have every relevant system. The GBA had the first strategy game, apart from chess, that I played: Advance Wars!

Well, I'm in a rush, so I'll just hit some of the biggies:

PS1/2

Tactics Ogre
Final Fantasy Tactics

Disgaea
Disgaea 2 (I have a sealed copy if anyone wants it ^_~)

GBA

Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis
Super Robot Taisen Original Generation (& 2) (These puppies got US localizations ^_~)
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon

DS

Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume
FFTA2
Luminous Arc
Rondo of Swords
?

Research the DS stuff, it's kind of hit'n'miss. The only one I'd REALLY recommend as highly as the ones I listed for the other consoles is Valkyrie Profile: CotP. Amazing storyline, viscerally entertaining.

G'night ^_~

But sometimes it's already clear from the get-go that something will become more expensive and hard to find in the aftermarket, no? Like Border Down LE or Ketsui DS.
Yeah, it's a good point. I don't know though, with console games it normally takes a while before prices hike. Interesting you mentioned Ketsui DS though, as I did get a new copy from GP, but only a few months after it had been released. Good price too (I just wanted to play something over the xmas break.)

I'm sure Border Down LE didn't go straight up though did it?

I didn't see rules of obligation in the OP. I just saw a question.
