Strikers 1945 1 & 2 - Screen problems?
I've 'acquired' Strikers 1945 1 & 2 (apparently the British release) and while it works on my PS2, there's a black bar at the top (a few inches tall) and the bottom of my screen is cut off. Hell, if my ship is at the bottom of the screen, I can't see it. o_O; (unless i judge where it is by my firepower's source ^^; ) Is this normal? There's no screen adjust option in the game... Any help would be appreciated. ^^ (and yes, i've tried everything with SwapMagic; Normal and PAL video modes make the game grey, flickering, and unplayable; NTSC was the only mode that 'worked' ^^; )

Yeah, except when it's tate'd, the left side of the screen has the black bar, and the right side is cut off (same off-centered position, basically), making it even more unplayable, considering the right side of the screen would be a mystery death zone. XDDDDsjewkestheloon wrote:that's strange to say the least... i own the pack and play it on a pal console and have no such problems. does it do the same thing when you put it in tate mode?
It'd be nice if it had a screen adjust option like 9 out of 10 shmups out there... but I guess this is that 1 out of 10 that doesn't. ^^; It's still playable, somewhat... perhaps I'll just have to get used to judging where I am by where my gunfire's coming from, until I can 'find' a better copy? ^^;; Still a great game. ^_^

Is your TV Pal? If not, this may be the problem.
I've a few Pal games that do that in my NTSC TV, even though it does SUPPORT the NTSC colors. My Worms Armageddon for the PSX cuts a HUGE portion of the screen in the bottom. It even has adjust screen option, but even if I put ALL up, it still cuts a good portion of the screen (I can't see the wind strenght, which makes the game nearly unplayable)
Beach Volleyball does the same. I've played a MiB version for PSX which also did the same.

what cable are you using? i don't know if it has any relation to your problem (and i'm in the uk so i have scart) but the stock ps1 input had a few display problems that were sorted out by getting a 3rd party high quality rgb/scart. mainly black and white and flicker problems though so i don't know if it'd help.

i think you nailed it there... it's not totally unplayable, though. ^^; only way i'd die unknowingly is if i'm going back and forth at the bottom of the screen, and happen to run into an ofscreen bullet. don't see that happening too often, though. hey, maybe this'll help get me over my weakness (getting trapped at the edge of the screen)Shatterhand wrote:Is your TV Pal? yeah, i use RGB cables. i got the black and white flicker problem when i tried to set the video mode to PAL (since the filename said it was the PAL release) but NTSC mode gave me the cut-off dilemma.. thanks though, you've helped weed out any possible problems. ^^sjewkestheloon wrote:what cable are you using? i don't know if it has any relation to your problem (and i'm in the uk so i have scart) but the stock ps1 input had a few display problems that were sorted out by getting a 3rd party high quality rgb/scart. mainly black and white and flicker problems though so i don't know if it'd help.
