So- I've been exploring some good Super Nintendo Games lately- mostly translated RPGS that didn't come out in the US. What kinds of games are out there that never made it here (The Firemen)- or made it here edited (Cybernator/Valken comes to mind). I'd love to play some of the 'good stuff'. Been on a SNES kick lately
Terranigma. Absolutly awesome RPG in the same style as Soulblazer and Illusion of Time/Gaia, only much better. It was only released in Japan and Europe for some strange reason.

Good luck finding one outside YAJ though. I had to pay more than I'd like to admit for my complete copy.
Thanks for mention of this game! I had never hear of it… I am a huge lover of Dungeon Explorer on the Turbo Grafx 16 and Dungeon Explorer II on the Turbo Duo. I will have to look to try this out.
In regards to Terranigma,
IF you are seeking the english lauguage PAL cart, and desire to play on a NTSC/U SNES, a proprietary converter is needed for this game. The converter can be a challenge to locate…
Skykid wrote:I got a complete copy of Terranigma about four years ago in gamestation for about £4 iirc.
Lucky devil!
Sonic R: You could simply go for a pal unit instead of a convertor, it'll probably be cheaper than the actual game anyway and if I remember correctly the pal version is optimised to run at 50hz.
Seiken Densetsu 3, AKA Secret of Mana 2, is IMO extremely remarkable. It doesn't have a deep, captivating plot, but the atmosphere is just spectacular. The gameplay can be lots of fun, too, if you like SoM style action.
Tales of Phantasia is the other big SNES RPG that I think was most regrettably left in Japan. The scope of this production is simply enormous. I recommend using a PAR code to put a "scout orb" in your inventory from the beginning, though. It counterbalances the game's problem of too many random battles.
Do Re Mi Fantasy is an ace platformer, if a little easy. It's actually one of the top games I show to people who don't play video games because it's just so friendly.
Umihara Kawase is the cult-classic newtonian-physics bungee platformer. Hard to explain, but really damn good.
The Granstream Saga is further from the SFC Quintet ARPG trilogy than Brightis is. I don't like how the HG101 article lumps them together and noted that over there when the article first game out.
Even before, this idea that Granstream was the secret 4th game was brought up on GameFAQs and I strongly questioned this distinction. Granstream just gets a lot more reference simply because it came out in the US while Brightis came out late in Japan, lost among the masses, although its mechanics are much closer to the spirit of the original 3 ARPGs.

This. This game makes me feel warm inside And the music is by Ryuji Sasai, the same guy who did the absolutely amazing Final Fantasy Legend 3 on the Gameboy!
If I ever got a sex change and changed my name then it would be Foxy (or Desire, depending on my mood).
and
To prove my point, here's a photo I made of Ture as a chef on the Food Network and here's a picture I drew of Ture as a Sailor Scout of love and justice.
OK!
Game sounds interesting, though; I heard about the "make-a-mantra" game long ago but didn't know the name offhand. Not much of a RPG player (at least until recently).
