Mars Matrix Arcade Poster?

Post by Aleanil »

I have a question to be posed to those more knowledgeable than I:

I recently picked up an awesome Mars Matrix poster from someone on eBay. The thing is massive - 40" x 28", and has a huge image of the Mosquito. But, I can't find a single trace of the thing online... has anyone ever seen a poster like this before? Is it from the arcade release like I think, or is it from the Dreamcast release?

Any thoughts?

I think that MM poster is the CPS-2 variant (or I could be wrong and would have to assume that maybe it is a DC MM poster variant after all). Did you get it all folded up like that? Most MM arcade posters weren't folded up like yours though but rather rolled up for better framing purposes. ^_~

Undamned should know more about the MM arcade posters...he has one all professionally framed with that sexy red metalliac frame. I like his. ^_~

Yeah, thats the CPS2 arcade poster. Its japanese B1 size, which is larger than any US frame size, so you'd have to get a custom frame. Pitty that one is folded.

Yeah, it came folded like that, but considering the price I won't complain too much :) Other than the folds it's in flawless condition with no rips / tears / holes. Guess I'll have to find a custom frame!

Thanks for the quick responses, I hadn't seen one of these before and I hadn't had any luck looking online. I'd wondered what sort of piece of arcade history I'd gotten :P

Yeah, the regulars beat me to it :D

I will say that the folded posters from Capcom are not uncommon. I've received kits with them and one time a PCB seller sent me a bunch of them free, one of which was a folded Progear poster :x

I had a friend who works with a high end art company get me a great deal on a custom frame for that same Mars Matrix poster as well as Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and Dodonpachi Dai Ou Jou, all of which look excellent. If you have the money, it's worth it.

Keep an eye out for sales at local frame shops or Michaels arts and crafts store. Sometimes you can find 50% off custom framing, so jump on that if you can!

Yeah, I do see a coupon sometimes for 50% off custom framing at my local Michael's in the Sunday's newspaper advertising supplements. I'd jump on that cheap-ass custom frame deal if it was offered. ^_~
