Dear "how much you hate mainstream gaming topics:"

That's right I hate the 75 different threads that start with the user talking on and on about that ill-defined genre known as "mainstream gaming" and how much they hate it.

What exactly is mainstream gaming? Is it all modern gaming in general? Is it just the games that sold over a million copies? Is it all American gaming or just games that don't fit into someone's uber elitest I'm too cool for it even if I sit in front of my tv all day and watch anime and play my indy games while eating pocky and dreaming of someday being in the same room as a fat chick?

I don't know anything about crap like that. As far back as I can remember I've divided games into just two genres, fun games and games I don't find fun. I like old games but I also like newer games. I think the day I stop being open minded to changing tastes is the day I bear more of a resemblance to my grandfather than other 20 somethings.

I also don't make up stupid reasons for not liking a game. I don't like GTA:SA because I played Vice City to death and I just don't find the whole concept fun anymore. I don't care that it's violent. I'm not Sen Lieberman nor am I some single hefty chick who just got through protesting the opening of another hooter's eatery.

I miss the lack of 2d games avaliable today but I've played them for most of my life. I had a good run with those games so it's impossible for me to argue that I haven't gotten my fill yet. Tastes change and I understand I'll miss out on a hell of a lot of games if I don't change with them. I'll still play my occasional 2d gem but metal slug 4 has taught me a powerful lesson about where a "2d and nothing but" attitude can get you and that lesson was painful.

My topic was a joke. I figured it would get locked or disappear within a few minutes. This is a serious thread that's covering the same ground we've already been over multiple times in the past few days.

Well, the last time I looked...this was a website that people could talk about pretty much whatever they wanted. The genre of "shooting games" brings us together, but everything else is different amoung us. Some of us have different issues, or gripes, and should feel free to discuss it here.
This is a "social forum", not a strict "you post what I want type shit only", that goes on elsewhere.
Thats the main reason why Shmups.com is diverse...lets try and keep it that way?
If you don't like the topic, you don't HAVE to read it or post in it. Not everybody here thinks the very same way as you do.
Basically, its a thing called Tolerance, and acceptance.
