Shmups: It's all about blowing stuff up!
I think it's mostly rabid Saturn fanboys who jump at any chance to put down hardware made by Sony even though the same number of good games exist for their systems and they had nothing to do with killing Sega's conspicuously platformerless Dreamcast.jp wrote:Mainstream Gaming wrote: and the forum will go back to "what are the best saturn games"
This is shmups.com bro, where the Saturn and its fans are frowned upon, for whatever reason.
I'm imagining this being a site that helped you figure out that it was all interweb hardcore to be a Saturn fanboy so take it easy. You're incredibly closed minded and you're feathers seem to be so easily ruffled at the mere mention of Sony or the Playstation that I shudder think what might happen if you actually saw one. And then after you've found some way to express your disgust for Sony for the umpteen billionth time and people start to ask "what gives jp?" you go all Saturn martyr and say that your fellow video gaming enthusiasts are putting down you and your religion. Like, discrimination. Get over yourself. Life will be much easier.

there is no system frowned upon except the Playstation by you. Here, systems are judged by their viabilty for shmups, and the fact that the Saturn is losing respect is simply due to the fact that the PS2 is gaining in ways you can´t understand until you have one. There was a time when the PC Engine or the Megadrive were the best systems for shmups, but this time is over, and the Saturn´s time is almost gone as well. Not because old games wouldn´t matter anymore, but because the PS2 is about to carry a scope no other console can match, from early 80´s games like Time Pilot to Mushihime Sama, whereas the Saturn only had a small timeframe of something like 88-98.jp wrote:This is shmups.com bro, where the Saturn and its fans are frowned upon, for whatever reason.

1. I've been a hardcore Saturn fan since before I even knew what the internet was, and definitely long before I found this place. Honestly, my best friend and I were like this in junior high/high school back when the Saturn came out.
2. I typically avoid Sony/PS threads, if you haven't noticed. And I rarely even mention them myself.
3. I don't even know what the last 3 sentences are supposed to mean. Its like, you're trying to make a point, but failing miserably and babbling on incoherently.
FYI, I was mostly referring to the 19 million anti-Radiant Silvergun threads and shot out of nowhere last month, or maybe your internet was down?
Unless you don't like Cave... then you're better off with a Dreamcast so you can play G.Rev shmups and the actually good Takumi shmups. Heh. And FYI the Saturn has Time Pilot as well... MSX Antiques yes?there is no system frowned upon except the Playstation by you. Heh, and you guys say I get MY "feathers ruffled". Thanks for the articles on a single sentence, really, it was fun.
RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!!!!
To be honest, I don't really see how that's anti-Saturn any more than people who dislike DDP:DOJ are anti-PS2. I don't like Radiant Silvergun, but I don't like Ikaruga or Gradius V either (well, I enjoy the last in very short bursts). And considering the hype around the game, there are bound to be people who play it and think "that's it?" The system it's on doesn't come into play.jp wrote:FYI, I was mostly referring to the 19 million anti-Radiant Silvergun threads and shot out of nowhere last month, or maybe your internet was down?
LOL, my internet was down! Man I never read the shooter forum. And why would I need to? To discuss Radiant Silvergun? HA! All I need to know about shooting games is the release date. I get that from TFP. This is the only board I like at this site.
So jp, you cry discrimination twice in the same day (here and in your Next Gen Discussion thread) and then get all wound up when someone points it out. See? It's up to you to end this cycle of pain and humiliation.
And Valgar, Little Ralph is what is commonly referred to as 'all that'. There isn't too much to tell really. If you like 2D platformers and wish that someone had picked up where the SNES left off, this is that game. Beautiful graphics and rock solid controls. I don't remember the music but I think I would if it was horrible. I hear this one is expensive nowadays but I guess it would be worth it. It's easily as good as any other big ticket console game that commands mega dough.

How am I getting wound up? I made a sarcastic comment about how the Saturn is frowned upon, and suddenly I've got you and several other people up my ass about it. I'm not the one writing articles about single sentence posts.PaCrappa wrote:LOL, my internet was down! Man I never read the shooter forum. And why would I need to? To discuss Radiant Silvergun? HA!
