Where can I get Tyrian??...

I thought this was freeware, but evidently not. Still, I've seen Youtube footage, and it looks sweet! I'm guessing it runs on DOS?

Tyrian 2000 is freeware according to the 3rd link down on Google

Yes, it's a DOS game. Most people would say it's mediocre so I imagine you'll like it quite a bit.

For those of you who didn't know, this has been nicely ported to the Dreamcast for some time. There were a few loose ends, but I think it was sillly stuff like the help menu had a bug and two player support was kinda wonky, but single player is awesome. Best bout of nostalgia I've had in a long time

If I ever get motivated I'm going to make some nice mini-cd copies (it's a small game) with cool artwork for my friends

It's also been ported to the Wii, Gamecube, DS, PSP, Xbox360, pen and paper, your mom and microwaves.

If I remember correctly there was a cancelled GBA port as well?

Really? I doubt the GBA would be able to pull a full-fledged port of Tyrian off.
I guess that's why it has been cancelled, right?

I believe it was the slowdowns in level 5 that game the porters problems.

You need to find a picture of Major Stryker with the front floods on and red death fireballs coming in from the sides of a dark red landscape. It's in the lava planet.
