What's your fave football (soccer) team?

Post by Super Laydock »

While USA-residents and maybe some other people won't care shit,
I was wondering which football (soccer) team you guys support?

Mine is PSV Eindhoven.

We won't win any prizes this year, but the club has the right "atmosphere"...

Just hoping we get to European football again after our struggling start.

So what team are you supporting?

Hell, you bought 1 of my fave PSV strikers... J. Vennegoor of Hesselink.
Still a great player. :)

It was Celtic, the other Glasgow side

But I have to admit he is excellent, he's had a poor season this year with injuries and such, but is now playing well for them again unfortunately.

We did buy Arthur Numan from you guys ages ago and he was a truly outstanding player for us - unfortunately we don't have the money these days to buy players of that standard anymore

Whoops, my mistake...

Always confusing them (which was the mainly protestant 1 btw????).

Anyway... maybe they do have the money (PSV doesn't have much either), but they make up for it with their super fanatic fanbase.

Always a joy to play a Scottish team, because they have great supporters! :D

Big Arsenal fan here. Should be interesting if they finally buy this offseason or keep coming up just short on all fronts.

interesting choice imho.

Great team and I loved Bergkamp playing for them.
Van Persie ain't doing that bad atm either btw...

Mr. Wenger remains somewhat of a mystery to me though... (but so does Ferguson at MU). What makes this man a better coach compared to others?

(and I seriously don't know too much about him, and always wonder about that and mr. Ferguson's role in them successes. :?

Yeah, Bergkamp is why I got big into Arsenal and then their style of play lured me in as well. Wenger's way seems to be to buy people nobody else has heard of at about age 16-18, make them into huge stars, then sell them later on down the road for a huge profit. Usually he isn't wrong when he sells them except this past year is one I can think of. If they'd have kept Mathieu Flamini they'd have done a hell of a lot better. I bet Flamini is kicking himself as well since he barely plays for AC Milan.

I just love dutch names!

Actually i'm kind of in love with dutch football as a whole, your national team always play offensive football that's fun to watch. The Euro 2004 quarterfinal still hurts though

I don't really got a favorite team though, I always had a soft spot for Celtic since Henrik Larsson played there and Heerveen since they always had a lot of swedish players. As far as swedish team goes I would say Helsingborg, since I grew up in the area but I'm not really into swedish club football.

Ah well, you should take comfort in our defeat against Portugal in the semi's. As we did the same with them losing the final. :P ;)

Larsson always had great talent, he played for Dutch club Feyenoord as well and always was a feared striker.

But as you mentioned Heerenveen (great season for them so far despite todays defeat), they indeed profit a lot from some great Scandinavian talent.
And I should add that most of this talent is undeservedly looked past by major teams in favor of South American guys.

That's Rangers, and Celtic are traditionally a catholic team. This still creates problems in Glasgow, but things are not as bad as they used to be.

Yeah it was nice to see them get through. Berbatov's penalty kick was retarded. In the US usually the only team anyone knows is Real Madrid or Manchester United, so it gets a bit old to hear people say that either one of them is their favorite team.

Granted I live in the US but I follow English soccer closer than anything over here. To me it seems that Newcastle is a bunch of odds and ends thrown together to try and make a cohesive team. That or guys who are a little bit past their prime, or in some cases way past their prime. I like Obafemi Martins though.

I'm really looking forward to see Werder winning the UEFA Cup so those two matches will be the most important to me.

Luton town. Out of the league now

I support Man Utd in the champions league, or whatever the English team is. Its great having 3 in the semi's.

Do MLS teams count? If so, I'm a big fan of the Seattle Sounders.

Derby County, the worst team in England 2007/08, and still not totally safe from the drop this season with 2 games to go.

They lost last night

Everyone loves him over here. He has really taken over as a team leader. There was a lot of hype about him before the season. I remember seeing a bunch of posters around Seattle that said something like 'Sorry London, we got Freddie." Being part Swedish myself I'm proud to have him over here.
